What will you be doing?

We are launching a new charity, with a powerful and practical mission: to break the cycle of homelessness and long-term unemployment by providing accredited plant training and qualifications for homeless individuals, ex-offenders, veterans, and others facing significant barriers to work. We run 5-day heavy machinery training courses using local farmers' equipment and partner with organisations like the Salvation Army to reach participants in need. Our courses result in NPORS-accredited qualifications that lead directly to employment opportunities in agriculture and construction. We are now forming our first board of trustees and are looking for people who are passionate about social impact and practical change. Whether you have experience in charity governance, lived experience of homelessness or addiction recovery, or professional skills in finance, HR, fundraising, law, or the construction and plant sectors - we’d love to hear from you. This is an exciting opportunity to help build a new initiative from the ground up and shape it to deliver real and lasting change. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, and particularly encourage those with lived experience of homelessness, the care system, the justice system, or addiction to apply. Commitment:We expect around 6 board meetings a year, either online or in person. Additional time may be needed for specific projects (e.g., grant applications or partnerships), but we will keep it flexible and respectful of your schedule.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for trustees who believe in second chances and practical change. Whether you’re an experienced board member or new to the trustee role, your lived experience, professional background, or passion for helping others is what matters most. We're especially interested in individuals with experience or knowledge in any of the following areas:

Charity governance or leadership Fundraising, grant applications, or finance HR, legal, or compliance knowledge Experience in construction, plant training, or agriculture Partnership building or local authority engagement Lived experience of homelessness, addiction recovery, or the justice system

You should be committed, collaborative, and ready to help shape the future of a new charity with big potential. We’re looking for hands-on trustees who want to contribute ideas, help build momentum, and create genuine impact. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, ages, and experiences. If you’re unsure whether your skills are a match - get in touch anyway. Passion and purpose count just as much as a professional CV.

What difference will you make?

As a founding trustee, you will play a vital role in shaping a charity designed to create real-world, long-term change. Your decisions will help people experiencing homelessness or disadvantage gain skills, qualifications, and a route back into employment and stability. You’ll help make a difference not just in individual lives but in communities - reducing reoffending, supporting veterans, giving people their independence back, and contributing to a more compassionate and practical approach to homelessness. Your expertise and guidance will ensure the charity is run effectively, ethically, and sustainably, and that every pound raised is used where it matters most: helping people get back on their feet through real work.
