Volunteer NLP/ML Researcher – Kernel Methods & Short-Text Modeling

What will you be doing?

Responsibilities You will work as part of a small research pod on:

apply Variational Inference principles to tackle model section problem for Hierarchical Topic Modeling, and related features

What are we looking for?

Skills Required: Strong background in Statistical Machine Learning, especially:

Variational Inference, casual inference Can read Python code Strong math skills  

Desirable skills:

Research mindset: ability to read, implement, and critique academic papers Familiarity with NLP pipelines (transformers, embedding models, sentence encoders)Some theoretical knowledge on the dataset geometry that is non-euclidean and stratified. Manifold hypothesis has been empirically shown to be wrong in language modeling
