Life Chance Trust is a Devon-based charity dedicated to transforming the lives of care-experienced and vulnerable young people. Through mentorship, skills development, and tailored support, we empower young people to take control of their futures. We are now seeking a Trustee with Safeguarding experience to join our committed Board. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact, contributing to the governance, strategy, and safeguarding oversight of a values-led organisation. What We’re Looking For We are looking for someone who:

Brings a passion for safeguarding and supporting vulnerable young people. Has experience of working at a strategic level – in governance, safeguarding, education, youth work, health, or social care. Understands the responsibilities and legal duties of being a trustee. Can think strategically and exercise sound, independent judgement. Is a clear and confident communicator, able to contribute effectively to Board discussions. Is committed to values of equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Experience with safeguarding policy and practice – particularly in the charity, education, or social care sector – is highly desirable. Time Commitment Estimated at around 3-5 hours per month, including:

Four Board meetings per year (3 held online, 1 in-person in Newton Abbot 4.30pm-6.30pm). Participation in sub-committees or strategic initiatives where relevant. To be able to provide guidance to the Head of Trust if a safeguarding concern arises.
