What will you be doing?

We are looking for a trustee with fundraising experience to support our funding bids and to help us develop a strategic approach to income generation from a mix of sources. Ideally, you will have trust and corporate fundraising for the charitable sector. Experience of the heritage/arts sector would be an advantage.  You will support the House Director and board of trustees through identifying funding opportunities, advising on applications and fundraising strategies, and leading the fundraising sub-committee.

What are we looking for?

As this role requires someone with fundraising experience, we are looking for someone with: ·         experience in fundraising in the heritage, museum or cultural sector. ·          Knowledge or experience of applying to trusts and foundations; corporate giving and individual giving would be helpful but not essential. ·        a proactive, diplomatic and collegiate approach to working on a board. ·        a genuine desire to champion and support the house, the charity and our goals.

What difference will you make?

Our trustees have the ultimate responsibility for making decisions on the governance of Elizabeth Gaskell's House, ensuring we are well run and committed to delivering our charitable responsibilities.  The Fundraising Trustee will work with the House Director and the Board of Trustees to identify and maximise fundraising opportunities to contribute to the financial stability and sustainability of the trust.
