We are looking for two amazing adults with fresh energy and a spirit of adventure to become Village Scouts, the beating heart of The Nest, our pop-up community hub for children and families during Traveling Village 3.
This is not just a way to travel. It is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to inspire, create, and bring joy to children every single week while being part of a diverse, intentional community of families living and learning together. We are putting serious resources into finding the right Scouts and building an incredible setup to support you. If you are not genuinely excited about working with kids and planning activities, this role is not for you. But if you are, we would love to meet you.
π About Traveling Village
Traveling Village is a co-created, mobile community of 20 families who travel together for several months at a time. In TV3, we will explore:
- Hoi An, Vietnam π»π³ (5 weeks)
- Hualien, Taiwan πΉπΌ (5 weeks)
- Busan, South Korea π°π· (5 weeks)
Between each location there is a 10-day travel break that is completely open and unstructured. You are free to explore, relax, or go on your own mini-adventure during these times.
The total journey lasts 4.5 months (Jan 15 β May 26, 2026) and is built around community, curiosity, unschooling, slow living, and shared experiences.
π What is The Nest?
The Nest is the heart of the village. It is a pop-up space for kids to play, create, and connect. It is open four days a week, offering a reliable rhythm for families while staying relaxed and opt-in.
It is not a school or daycare. There is no drop-off. The Nest is built on collaboration, not delegation. Two Village Scouts co-lead the space, supported by a rotating group of parents who are always present to assist.
The Nest is where friendships form, where games pick up right where they left off, where creativity sparks, and where parents can breathe and reconnect.
π§ Your Role as a Village Scout
As a Village Scout, you will be one of two coordinators leading The Nest and shaping the experience for the kids and the wider community. Together with your co-Scout, you will:
- Kickstart and facilitate fun such as crafts, nature walks, cultural projects, scavenger hunts, workshops, and more
- Coordinate with local venues, guides, and guest facilitators to enrich the experience
- Collaborate closely with a parent workgroup who help plan and organize activities
- Be present four days a week, approximately 3β4 hours per day during Nest sessions
- Always have the support of at least one or two parents on duty each day
- Be part of the wider community, sharing meals, joining events, and being welcomed as one of us
π Important
- You are never solely responsible for the kids
- You are not a nanny or teacher
- You are a facilitator, a reliable, creative, energizing presence that sets activities in motion and creates a fun, engaging atmosphere
- Any additional work as a nanny or providing extra support outside Nest hours is completely optional, must be agreed directly between you and the family, and will be paid directly by them.
- Just like any other member of the village, the scouts themselves are responsible for lodging, travel, visas, insurance and so on.
π What We Offer
- A $5,000 stipend to support your travel and living expenses
- No sign-up fees or workgroup duties, your role is your contribution
- Full participation in communal meals, group adventures, workshops, and spontaneous magic whenever these are covered by our communal fund. Some events may be privately paid by families and are optional for you to join
- A strong support system with another Scout and a dedicated parent team
- A built-in community of 70+ inspiring people, from educators and entrepreneurs to artists and digital nomads, across multiple nationalities
- Time and freedom to explore, with plenty of personal space and flexible hours
π§ Time for Yourself
The Nest operates just four days per week, with plenty of room in between for:
- Rest
- Personal projects
- Weekend trips
- Language learning
- Enjoying life in three incredible countries
- Joining community events and simply hanging out with a bunch of incredible people
Even during the weeks when The Nest is running, the hours are light and the rhythm is gentle. You will also enjoy two 10-day breaks between locations to travel freely on your own terms.
π Who You Are
You might be:
- A gap year traveler, ex-scout leader, outdoor guide, or alternative educator
- Someone who loves the outdoors and enjoys bringing nature into play and learning
- Passionate about one or more topics you can share with the kids, such as music, art, sports, science, storytelling, or local culture
- Experienced in youth work, unschooling, creative facilitation, or community projects
- Comfortable with flexibility and a bit of organized chaos
- Excited to co-create something meaningful, not just follow a plan
You are genuinely passionate about working with kids, planning creative activities, and building a vibrant community space. You see this as an opportunity to make a real impact, not just as a way to fund your travels. We approach this as a once-in-a-lifetime experience and are doing everything we can to make it incredible. For the right people, this will hopefully be more than a big adventure and become something you are proud to put on your resume.
Already planning to travel with a friend or partner? Even better. We would love for you to apply together.
