Role Summary

  • Engage in maintaining our world-class plant collections in the Agius Evolution Garden, Grass Garden, Duke’s Garden, and Carbon Garden.
  • Care for a variety of woody and herbaceous plants, including hedging and turf, using numerous horticultural methods.

Role Requirements

  • Must hold a horticultural qualification equivalent to NVQ level 2 or above.
  • Experience in ornamental horticulture is required.
  • Previous experience working with plants, machinery, and teamwork is crucial.

We are excited to invite a talented Botanical Horticulturist to join our Gardens Temperate Collections Section at Kew Gardens. This role is based in the Agius Evolution Garden, Grass Garden, Duke’s Garden, and Carbon Garden Team, where you will play a pivotal role in maintaining our world-class plant collections. These displays are vital components of Kew’s living heritage landscape and visitor experience, and it is essential that they are kept to a high standard.

The organisation, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (RBG Kew), is a leading plant science institute, UNESCO World Heritage Site, and major visitor attraction. Our mission is to understand and protect plants and fungi for the well-being of people and the future of all life on Earth. The role involves caring for a diverse range of woody and herbaceous plants, including hedging and turf, using various horticultural techniques. The successful candidate will have a horticultural qualification equivalent to NVQ level 2 or above, with experience in ornamental horticulture. Proven experience in working with plants, machinery, and team collaboration is essential.

This position offers a salary of £28,550 per year, with interviews scheduled for 16 September 2025.
