The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity, dedicated to creating a world where trees and woods thrive for both people and nature. We are passionate about tackling environmental and climate issues through the protection, restoration, and creation of woodland habitats. Our organisation values diversity and inclusion, encouraging applications from under-represented groups, including people of colour and disabled individuals.

The role of Project Development Manager is a key position within our team, responsible for leading the development and delivery of the Glen Torridon Partnership project. This ambitious habitat restoration initiative aims to work with landowners and communities to restore native habitats across a large landscape of 30,000 hectares in Glen Torridon. As part of this role, you will oversee the planning, development, and implementation of the project, ensuring it aligns with our mission to create thriving woodland environments.

You will work closely with landowners, local communities, environmental organisations, and internal teams to foster strong relationships and inspire long-term change. The position involves line managing employees, contractors, and consultants to deliver project objectives effectively. Regular travel across Scotland is required, including visits to Glen Torridon and other Woodland Trust sites, so a full, clean UK driving licence is essential.

Candidates should have experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects, including budget management and stakeholder engagement. A passion for the environment and understanding of land management principles for environmental and social benefits are important. The role offers flexible and hybrid working options, along with a comprehensive benefits package including pension, life assurance, generous annual leave, and employee support programs.

Joining the Woodland Trust means becoming part of a dedicated team committed to creating a sustainable future through woodland conservation. We support our staff with training and development opportunities and encourage applications from diverse backgrounds. If you are enthusiastic about making a tangible impact on the environment and have the skills and experience outlined, we invite you to apply and help us grow a greener Scotland.

Applications are accepted via an online process, where you will need to upload your CV, provide employment and education history, and include references. The closing date for applications is September 14, 2025. Interviews will be held in person, with dates to be confirmed.
