What will you be doing?

Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Oversight & Governance

Contribute to board discussions by offering informed perspectives on education policy, curriculum design, teacher training, and school system operations. Ensure EFF’s activities align with national education standards and are relevant to teachers, school leaders, and local authorities. Review and support the development of school-facing interventions, especially Champions for Change and curriculum diversification programmes.

2. Education and Curriculum Expertise

Offer expert advice on anti-racist pedagogy and inclusive curriculum design to strengthen EFF’s programme development. Provide insights into national trends and priorities in education, such as the Ofsted framework, teacher CPD requirements, or MAT expectations. Advise on how to better embed EFF’s work within the National Curriculum and school improvement plans.

3. Network Building and Advocacy

Leverage existing relationships with Multi-Academy Trusts, Local Authorities, and teacher training institutions to support the expansion of EFF’s reach. Act as a critical friend and ambassador to help promote EFF’s work within the education community. Provide introductions to education networks, steering groups, and relevant conferences or education consortia.

4. Board Contribution

Offer support and challenge on decisions related to EFF’s education strategy and delivery. Ensure that the organisation’s interventions meet high standards of educational integrity and impact. Provide oversight on safeguarding, risk management, and evaluation practices where relevant to education delivery.

What are we looking for?

Essential

Senior experience in the UK education sector (e.g. headteacher, Education Psychologist, MAT leader, education consultant, LA adviser). Deep understanding of the UK school system, curriculum development, and the CPD landscape for educators. A commitment to racial equity, justice, and decolonisation within education. Ability to translate educational theory and policy into practical, scalable programme design. Strategic thinker with excellent communication and governance skills.

Desirable

Experience working with or advising school improvement initiatives, teacher training programmes or national education organisations. Previous experience on a Board or School Governing Body. Familiarity with impact measurement and evaluation within education settings.

Commitment

Term: 3 years (renewable). Time: 4–6 hours per month, including attendance at quarterly Board meetings (a mix of in-person and virtual). Additional availability for occasional workshops, strategy days, and education sector events.
