Role Summary
- Perform essential administration for cases reported under the Treasure Act 1996.
- Interact and work closely with finders, museums, curators, archaeologists, and the TVC.
- Oversee the care, movement, valuation, and documentation of Treasure finds.
- Manage the deposit, collection, viewing, and internal flow of Treasure items.
- Administer reward payments, process invoices, and maintain financial records.
- Support the TVC's preparations and organize meetings and communications.

The British Museum is seeking a Treasure Registration Coordinator to join our team. This role is crucial for the administration of cases reported under the Treasure Act 1996 and supports the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS). As a Treasure Registration Coordinator, you will be instrumental in the care, movement, valuation, and documentation of Treasure finds. You will work closely with finders, museums, curators, archaeologists, and the Treasure Valuation Committee (TVC), ensuring the smooth and timely processing of Treasure cases from discovery to final valuation.
The role involves facilitating the deposit, collection, viewing, and internal movement of Treasure items at the British Museum. You will also be responsible for administering reward payments, processing invoices, and maintaining accurate financial records. Additionally, you will support the Treasure Valuation Committee by preparing cases, commissioning valuations, organizing meetings, and communicating recommendations to interested parties. The role also includes line-managing Treasure Registrars and helping to train team members.
We are looking for candidates who are highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong administrative skills. Knowledge of the types of artefacts typically reported as Treasure and experience handling museum objects or working with collections is preferred. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders are essential.
