We are excited to announce an opportunity to join The Parks Trust as a Wetland Arc Project Officer. Established in 1992, The Parks Trust is an independent charity responsible for over 6,000 acres of green space in Milton Keynes, including parks, woodlands, lakes, and river valleys. Our mission is to protect and enhance these landscapes forever, ensuring that Milton Keynes remains a vibrant, green, and sustainable city for residents and visitors alike.

The organisation is unique in its approach, operating independently from local government with a long-term lease and endowment that secure the future of Milton Keynes' green spaces. Our dedicated team of over 100 staff and 240 volunteers work tirelessly to maintain, develop, and promote the city's parks and natural environments. We also host over 500 outdoor events annually, fostering community engagement and environmental education.

The role of Wetland Arc Project Officer is a fixed-term position for two years, focused on delivering community engagement and volunteer activities related to the River Great Ouse Valley Wetland Arc project. This project, funded by £213,000 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, aims to create a landscape-scale masterplan for a 355-hectare wetland area along the River Great Ouse. The project will support nature recovery, landscape planning, and community participation.

As the Project Officer, you will be responsible for developing, facilitating, and managing activities that align with the project’s objectives. Your role will involve engaging a diverse range of audiences, organizing community events, and inspiring local people to participate in shaping the landscape. You will work closely with community groups, volunteers, and the public, ensuring that activities are well-organized, safe, and impactful.

Candidates should have experience in running community engagement programs, working with volunteers and the public, and possess good presentation and communication skills. Experience in risk assessment and habitat management is essential. A full driving license is required, and flexibility to work some evenings and weekends is expected.

In return, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including a competitive salary, ongoing training, a contributory pension scheme, income protection, life assurance, family-friendly policies, a home working policy, generous annual leave, wellbeing days, and discounts on local activities and services. Our office is situated in a scenic parkland setting with free parking.

To apply, please submit your application online via our website using Cezanne. The deadline for applications is Sunday, 21st September 2024. Interviews are scheduled for the week commencing 22nd September 2024, with specific dates to be confirmed.
