What will you be doing?
Advise the board on legal matters relevant to the CIC structure and operations. Review and help draft or update internal policies and procedures (e.g., safeguarding, data protection, employment, governance). Liase with our Press and Finance Officer. Support compliance with CIC regulator requirements, Companies House, and any relevant sector regulations. Provide guidance on contracts, MOUs, or partnership agreements. Identify legal risks and suggest mitigation measures. Occasionally attend board meetings (if possible) to provide advice when needed.
What are we looking for?
Qualified solicitor or legal executive (UK law). DBS Check Knowledge of charity/CIC law, company law, or relevant areas (e.g., employment, data protection, safeguarding). Experience advising non-profits, CICs, or small organisations. Strong communication skills and ability to explain legal matters in plain English. Passion for social impact or the CIC’s mission.
