Golden Africa Safaris is a family-owned and operated boutique luxury safari company that exists to help the travel trade showcase Botswana at its best. We are based in Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta, and we run a luxury roving tented camp and inbound tour operating business that believes in honest storytelling, exceptional guiding, and experiences that put space, silence, and time with wildlife at the centre.
Your work will carry this mission into the world with clear, beautiful stories that inspire our travel trade partners (outbound tour operators, travel agents and destination management companies) to choose Botswana, and most importantly us, with confidence. You will help turn real moments of safari life into useful assets that support sales, strengthen relationships, and celebrate a raw wilderness packed full of wildlife that matters.
We serve the travel trade. We are a business-to-business (B2B) company at our core. We are destination-led and therefore your mission is to help us sell Botswana and our UVP to our trade partners with clarity and confidence through authentic stories, disciplined execution, and useful assets.
What you will do:
Capture who we are so that you can: Create and manage a practical content calendar with scheduled posts. Run a consistent LinkedIn and trade communications cadence. Turn trade and guest feedback into stories and assets that reflect real operations across the season. Capture and edit short-form video and photo content on safari and at base. Write clear copy for web and trade decks. Update our website. Set up and run email campaigns. Report channel performance in a way the team can use. Build simple systems that the team can keep using after you leave.
Experience and skills:
Ideally, a minimum of three years full-time experience across marketing and content in any industry – skills are transferable. Strong copywriting. Confident in filming and editing short-form video. Capable stills photography. Social media scheduling. Email campaigns. Analytics reporting that leads to impactful decisions. Asset organisation and tagging. Experience using AI as a tool of the trade, not as a crutch or a mechanism of deceit. Our content must be authentic.
Tools and workflow:
Bring your own camera and laptop. We provide access to software subscriptions, including Canva and Photoshop. We use Dropbox as a shared drive. We already hold several terabytes of photo and video content that needs wrangling. A strong video editing background is essential. Experience of colour tone correction on videos is required.
Field time and working pattern:
Expect about 30-40 days out on safari over 6 months, and up to 80 days across a year. The remainder of your time is at our base in Maun. Wifi is available at base and on safari via Starlink. The usual pattern is Monday to Friday at base. Safari days can fall on any day. Tourism follows a twenty-six-day working month.
Driving and practicalities:
A manual transmission driving licence is essential. Off-road skills can be taught.
Accommodation and support:
Self-catered accommodation in Maun is provided. A vehicle and fuel are provided for work duties in town.
Health and cover:
You must hold your own medical & travel insurance.
Ownership and conduct:
All content captured or created while you are working with us belongs to Golden Africa Safaris. This applies whether on our devices or yours. It applies for as long as you are volunteering in Botswana and capturing content relating to our products and services. We look for sober habits. We value an open mind. A track record of accountability and a willingness to teach understudies is preferable.
Important regulatory note:
Due to work and residence permit regulations in Botswana, this is a voluntary position. We will fund return economy class flights between the United Kingdom and Maun; one return for up to 6 months in Botswana, and two return flights for up to 12 months. We will provide accommodation. We will pay a monthly stipend equivalent to £500 into your United Kingdom bank account.
Please apply only if you seek impactful experience and can support yourself. This is a sabbatical-style role with significant time on safari in one of Africa’s most iconic and remarkable wilderness areas, the Okavango Delta.
How to apply:
Send a CV, links to portfolio or work samples, and a short motivational letter, stating how long you’d like to come and be with us for (ideally 6-12 months). Include a concise list of past work you are proud of. Show that you have researched who we are, what we do, how we do it, and why. Explain how you would approach your first 90 days. Start before the end of 2025 or early 2026; our safari season is typically March to October, but peak marketing is December to May. Part of the role is setting up systems that the business can carry on with after you have left.
