Role Summary

  • Support the production of timely financial donor reports and fund requests.
  • Support the development of donor budgets utilising HALO's financial planning system (Adaptive Insights).
  • Assist in financial monitoring and review of grants/contracts.
  • Assist in monitoring compliance against overseas statutory regulations and Donor regulations.
  • Discharge the responsibilities as per HALOs Health and Safety Procedures.

Role Requirements

  • Experience in a finance role.
  • Proficient Excel Skills including pivot tables, VLookup, SUMIF etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel to HALO programmes.

Salary: Up to £30k, dependent on experience

Contract: Fixed term to 30/04/26 with a secondment option for internal candidates

About the role:

The HALO Trust are looking to hire a Global Finance Officer to join our Finance team at our HQ in Thornhill, Dumfries. The Global Finance Officer will support the Global Grants Manager in ensuring contractual and regulatory compliance for a portfolio of global grants and donors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the production of timely financial donor reports and fund requests.
  • Provide support in the development of donor budgets utilising HALOs financial planning system (Adaptive Insights).
  • Support in the development of systems, tools and processes to ensure HALO’s budgeting and forecasting process operates efficiently and effectively.
  • Assist the financial monitoring and review of grants/contracts, working closely with colleagues to forecast and report on project costs to completion.
  • Assist monitoring of compliance against overseas statutory regulations, including company registration, financial reporting and taxation.
  • Assist in the monitoring of compliance against Donor regulations and HALO financial and logistics standing operating procedures, carrying out desk and field based audits.
  • Assist in the production of transactional reports/documentation for grant/contract audits, liaising with the external auditors/country teams as appropriate.

All HALO staff are expected to undertake the following general duties:

  • Work within the framework of HALO’s core values, promoting its ethos and mission statement.
  • Work towards achieving programme and/or group business plan objectives.
  • Ensure familiarity with and adhere to all HALO policies and procedures and keep informed of HALO activities.
  • Travel to HALO programmes as and when required (no more than 3 short visits per year)
  • To discharge duties and responsibilities under HALO’s Health and Safety Procedures which may include Risk and COSHH Assessments and participation in evacuation procedures as necessary.

Requirements

  • Experience in a finance role
  • Use of Excel to manipulate and analyse data (ability to produce pivot tables, VLookup, SUMIF etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel to HALO programmes
