Role Summary

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations and manage cashflow to maximize efficiency.
  • Ensure quality of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting practices.
  • Provide financial insight and strategic support in partnership with stakeholders and manage investments in startups.
  • Lead financial operations, reporting, and manage all legal, tax or statutory matters on a timely basis.
  • Work with the Operations and Sales teams to support the management of event budgets, costs, and ensure financial targets are met.
  • Serve as the key contact for the company’s external IT provider, maintaining an efficient system, assessing new operational and financial tools and overseeing data accuracy across platforms.

Role Requirements

  • Must be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) with +2 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Needs strong commercial insight, strategic vision, attention to detail and adaptability; with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ideal candidate will have previous in-house finance experience in a startup, scale-up, or events-driven organisation.
  • Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills necessary; experience with Xero or similar accounting software preferred.

Opportunity

We’re looking for a talented and ambitious Finance and Operations Manager to join the team behind The Longevity Show – a brand new 3,000-person conference and exhibition dedicated to living longer, healthier lives, with ambitions to go global.

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the financial operations of a flagship event from day one. You’ll oversee all aspects of finance – from reporting and cashflow to budgeting and forecasting – ensuring that the business runs smoothly and is set up for sustainable growth.

Working closely with the Founders Forum Group  CFO, you’ll provide financial insight and strategic support, partner with stakeholders across the event teams, and help us manage investments in our growing portfolio of startups. With significant scope for development, this role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and wants to be part of building a world-class platform in the longevity space.

Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Reporting

  • Oversee day-to-day finance operations, including the month- and year-end close processes.
  • Produce quarterly management accounts, including variance analysis and investigation into key drivers.
  • Produce any ad-hoc financial reporting as required for investor purposes
  • Manage cashflow across across the business, ensuring funds are allocated for monthly requirements and overall efficiency is maintained.
  • Establish and implement finance and accounting policies to support existing business activities and growth.
  • Establish and implement processes around customer invoicing, collections tracking, payroll and vendor management.
  • Manage outsourced book-keeping services to the 3rd party provider, ensuring accurate records are kept
  • Manage the Company’s advisors to ensure timely submission of all legal, tax or statutory matters on a timely basis

Business Partnering & Event Support

  • Work closely with the Operations team to manage event budgets and costs, ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Support the Sales  team on invoicing and cash collection.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the Longevity Show business and our wider ecosystem of startups and investments.
  • Deliver scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to support decision-making around revenue streams, investment decisions, and event outcomes.
  • Preparation and maintenance of  annual budgets and rolling forecasts.

IT Systems & Data

  • Serve as the key contact for the company’s external IT provider, ensuring efficient service delivery, system reliability, and alignment of technology solutions with business needs.
  • Support procurement of new systems or hardware by evaluating vendors against business and security requirements.
  • Work with business leads to ensure the rollout and integration of new operational and financial tools, ensuring compatibility, user adoption, and effective data flow across all systems.
  • Coordinate system access management processes (onboarding/offboarding, user permissions) in line with company policy.
  • Maintain oversight of data accuracy and consistency across platforms, implementing processes to ensure timely, reliable information for reporting and decision-making.
  • Identify, design, and implement process enhancements and automation initiatives to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Support the design and upkeep of dashboards or automated reports that consolidate key performance and financial data.
  • Maintain the IT budget and cost forecasts, tracking software licenses, renewals, and subscription usage.

Requirements

Experience and qualifications:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) with +2 years post-qualification experience.
  • Previous in-house finance experience, ideally in a startup, scale-up, or events-driven organisation.
  • Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills; experience with Xero (or similar accounting software).
  • Commercially minded, with the ability to provide clear insights and challenge assumptions.
  • Strong attention to detail, proactive problem solver, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
