Role Summary

  • Help deliver a National Lottery Heritage Fund project as a Community Development Officer based at Mourne Park.
  • Work in collaboration with the project manager and other team members to achieve project aims.
  • Develop and launch initiatives such as volunteer programs, training in heritage and conservation skills, and local community engagement programs.
  • Create and implement a calendar of environmental events to promote heritage and biodiversity within Mourne Park.

Role Requirements

  • Experience spearheading projects, especially complex, multi-faceted ones, is desired.
  • Background in environmental education is vital, as is experience in community and volunteer engagement and creating and implementing training programs.
  • An understanding of working with land management and owning partners and managing volunteer groups is required.
  • HND/Degree qualification in an environmental/heritage related field is preferred.
  • Candidates must have a full driving licence and be willing to travel, including overnight trips.

The role: As a Community Development Officer based at Mourne Park, you will be integral to the successful delivery of the National Lottery Heritage Fund project. You will work closely with the Project Manager, Conservation Officer, and the Woodland Trust Northern Ireland Team to achieve project goals. Your responsibilities will include developing and delivering a volunteer programme, an extensive training programme in heritage and conservation skills, and a community engagement programme to engage local people in the history of Mourne Park, biodiversity, and environmental practical programmes of work. Additionally, you will develop and deliver a calendar of environmental events/activities to promote heritage and biodiversity within Mourne Park.

Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have experience delivering projects, particularly complex, multi-disciplinary projects. You should have experience in Environmental Education, volunteer and community engagement, and developing and delivering training programmes. Experience working with land management and owning partners, public facing communications, and managing volunteer groups is also required. A qualification to HND/Degree level in an environmental/heritage related field is desirable. A full driving licence and the ability to undertake travel, including overnight stays, is necessary.
