PURPOSE

We are looking for an experienced communications specialist who can support the England Women’s cricket team, protect and enhance the team’s reputation, and build the profile of the players and the women’s game.

This role will play a crucial part in driving interest in the England Women’s team in what is a landmark year for women’s cricket - with the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on home soil in June – and beyond.

Our ideal candidate will be passionate about sport and cricket specifically, and the role they play in improving lives and connecting communities – as well as understanding the power of communications as a multi-channel discipline.

  • You’re organised and thoughtful, with a focus on measuring impact and making communications count.

  • You’re happy spending extended periods of time away with the team overseas on tour and around England and Wales during the home season.

YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Managing all media operations around the England Women’s cricket team; travelling with the team and organising interviews and press conferences; briefing players and management for both pro-active and reactive media opportunities.

  • Building the reputation and shaping the perception of the England Women’s cricket team, connecting the team to external audiences using a range of channels, and supporting the players in building their own profiles.

  • Working with all relevant ECB departments and broadcast partners to ensure the smooth and successful staging of England Women’s home international matches, including effective delivery of broadcast requirements and requests.

  • Developing strong working relationships with the players, team management, the media, ECB’s broadcast partners and sponsors, the ICC and overseas cricket boards, and other external partners.

  • Collaborating with other ECB departments (Digital, Commercial, EDI, Marketing, ICC World Cup team etc.) to support the creation of joined-up campaign moments with impact.

  • Identifying and delivering new opportunities to showcase the England Women’s team and women’s cricketers in consumer and lifestyle media and with content creators.

  • Contributing to the creation of content for ECB’s online and social media channels.

  • Willing and able to travel for long periods both domestically and overseas.

  • During periods when the team isn’t playing, you’ll continue to find proactive ways to grow the profile of the team and women’s cricket, and as part of the ECB communications team you’ll support other areas of the organisation as required.

YOU’LL HAVE

  • Substantial and proven experience of working in PR/communications at a senior level and a proven track record of leading effective communications or stakeholder work.

  • Strong understanding of how to form relationships with journalists and experience in creating bonds with influencers/key opinion formers.

  • Experience of working with a professional sports team or within the professional sports industry, knowledge of cricket.

  • A passion for collaboration and the ability to work alongside stakeholders at every level of the game, from recreational to international cricket.

  • Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills.

  • Flair for creativity, strategic thinking and innovation.

  • Resilience in an environment that is fast-paced and challenging
