We are seeking a motivated, commercially-driven Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day and strategic operations of the Aldenham Estate’s seasonal hospitality business, Home Farm Glamping. This is a unique and coveted role that will report directly to the Director, with autonomy to make a real impact. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in hospitality, events or leisure operations, strong team leadership skills, confidence managing bookings as well as excellent written communication abilities. A passion for the outdoors and enabling others to enjoy nature is essential.

Role Outline & Responsibilities

Leadership & People Management

  • Managing the seasonal on site glamping team and freelance staff, providing supportive and strategic leadership
  • Head up recruitment, onboarding, training, rotas and performance management for seasonal staff
  • Create contracts for seasonal team members and assist payroll calculations for hourly workers
  • Foster a positive, collaborative workplace culture and support staff development

Operational Management

  • Oversee the glamping operation holistically, balancing guest experience, operational efficiency and commercial priorities
  • Manage and optimise bookings, guest enquiries and reservations processes
  • Oversee onsite guest experience delivery, ensuring high service standards and swift resolution of issues
  • Manage stock, supplies, equipment and ordering systems related to hospitality operations and private events
  • Coordinate with suppliers, contractors and the Estate team to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Support with the production and running of our one day family festival Magic Meadows (Sat 25th July)

Commercial & Sales

  • Drive revenue growth through proactive sales conversion, upselling and partnership development
  • Creating compelling and exciting proposals for corporate parties and work with suppliers to deliver events
  • Lead marketing efforts including writing newsletters, blogs and social media content
  • Update the monthly sales tracker and report progress to Director/s
  • Support Director to find opportunities to grow and retain audiences, improve pricing strategies and enhance profitability
  • Roll out operations aligned with the annual glamping budget and monitor expenditure
  • Have a reactive sales style, spotting when there may be lulls in bookings and running tactical offers to boost bookings

Site & Safety

  • Escalate and track maintenance issues with the Estate team to ensure timely resolution
  • Oversee compliance with health & safety, fire safety and licensing requirements
  • Maintain risk assessments and safety documentation

Guest Experience & Brand

  • Respond to guest enquiries with care and professionalism, ensuring seamless communication before and after stays
  • Collect and share guest feedback to continuously improve the onsite experience
  • Represent the brand with confidence and integrity, ensuring values and tone of voice are reflected across communications

Core Job Requirements

  • Proven experience in hospitality, glamping, leisure or events at duty manager or management level
  • An interest in our biodiversity project and a passion for spending time in nature
  • Experience in sales with strong commercial awareness
  • Excellent written communication skills for compelling storytelling and marketing content
  • A natural passion for delivering outstanding hospitality and maintaining high standards as well as a genuine interest in helping people reconnect in nature
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Adaptable and solution-focused 
  • Availability to work occasional weekends (time in lieu granted) or occasional late finishes
  • Availability year-round to host site inspections for prospective and existing clients
  • Ideally living within a 45-minute drive of Home Farm Glamping

Contract Details

  • Start date: Full time from April 2026
  • Salary: £37,000 - £42,000 DOE
  • Annual Leave: 30 days including bank holidays (limited leave between May–September)
  • Working Hours: Full time from 9am-5pm, open to discussing part-time
  • Workplace: Hybrid, with regular onsite presence in Elstree
  • Contract type: Year-round
