PURPOSE
To officiate matches, to the very highest standard, in men’s and women’s professional cricket in England and Wales.

The England and Wales Cricket Board is the national governing body for all cricket in England and Wales, supporting the game at every level – from grassroots to professional.

YOU’LL BE DOING
PRE-MATCH PREPARATION
To ensure that all appropriate arrangements are in place to enable the effective smooth running and management of the match.
To work with key personnel (colleagues, players, ground management, media, etc.) to promote mutual trust, respect, openness and transparency.
To establish and agree match expectations with colleagues and players prior to the start of the match to ensure clarity and understanding
MATCH MANAGEMENT
To maintain effective communication on and off the field of play so that all parties are kept informed, and any potential misunderstandings are avoided.
During matches, to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with colleagues and other key personnel to ensure decisive, consistent, and efficient outcomes.
To make decisions based on available information taking in to account the consequences, ensuring that decisions are effectively communicated and adhered to.
To confidently and objectively manage conflict and contested situations, in order as far possible to enable understanding and acceptance of decisions.
To provide clear and effective communication with scorers throughout the match to ensure that information is recorded and maintained accurately.
To ensure consistency and fairness in the management of the match and in accordance with playing conditions and ECB Professional Conduct Regulations.
To liaise closely with grounds managers to ensure maintenance of the pitch is carried out in line with regulations.
To manage the processes and procedures at the conclusion of the match ensuring that all are correctly implemented and communicated including completion of all reporting requirements.
To escalate, as necessary, health and safety concerns to the relevant official.
