Role Summary:

Role Requirements:
- Experience in land-based management in the forestry and conservation sector.
- A HND/degree level in forestry, land management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of project management and ability to coordinate multiple workstreams.
- Collaborative approach, strong communication skills, and stakeholder engagement ability.
- A full driving license as the role involves regular travel.

The Woodland Trust is committed to protecting, restoring, and creating woodland areas across the UK. We are currently seeking an Assistant Site Manager to join our South West region Operation team. This role is crucial for supporting the management of the Trust's temperate rainforest sites, primarily located in Dartmoor and South Devon.
The role: You will work closely with Site Managers and the Rainforest Project team to deliver effective management of our woodland sites. Your responsibilities will include conducting on-site inspections and surveys, organizing and supervising various contracts, and overseeing the work of volunteers while engaging with the public. A working knowledge of timber mensuration is desirable due to active harvesting in the area. You will also be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring the financial management of budgeted woodland management programs using contractors, agents, and volunteers. Additionally, you will actively monitor and review woodland management plans and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maximize income and grant aid potential.
Job requirements: Candidates should have experience in land-based management within the forestry and conservation sector and be qualified to HND/degree level in forestry, land management, or a related field. A strong understanding of project management, the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams, and experience in woodland condition assessments are essential. You must have a collaborative approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders. A full driving license is required as the role involves regular travel around the South West region. A company car is provided.
