YOUR IMPACT

As Community Engagement Manager, you will ensure that Project Aranya delivers meaningful, equitable outcomes for local communities while meeting high-quality carbon standards. You will oversee the implementation of the Community Benefit Fund, support FPIC processes, and strengthen safeguarding and grievance mechanisms to protect participants and ensure transparency.

Through training, coaching, and technical backstopping, you will build the capacity of field staff and partners to implement community engagement processes effectively, ensuring inclusion of marginalized groups and compliance with VCS and CCB standards. By maintaining robust systems for grievance resolution and FPIC quality control, you will enhance accountability and trust with local stakeholders.

Your work will directly influence how communities benefit from climate projects, strengthen the integrity of project delivery, and help shape best-practice approaches to community engagement in nature-based climate solutions globally.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Community Benefit Fund

  • Fund Management: Manage the implementation of the Community Benefit fund to ensure that funds are allocated per VCS & CCB best practice.

  • Technical Support: Train, coach and support project staff and partners in the implementation of the carbon fund

  • Carbon standards adherence: Ensure that the distribution and Community Benefit Fun

Free Prior & Informed Consent

  • FPIC Delivery: Working with the Project Team, lead on ensuring that the project incorporates FPIC into the long-term delivery of the project to ensure all project participants are fully informed of their risks and rights within the project.

  • FPIC Materials and training: Development and iteration of FPIC materials, SOPs and trainings for CIP teams and partners.

  • FPIC Quality Control: With CIP field staff support, assess and support partners to ensure FPIC is delivered at the required standard.

Safeguarding

  • Marginalised populations: Within project boundaries, ensure that marginalised populations are not deliberately excluded from project delivery.

  • Risks identification and mitigation: With project staff and implementing partners, ensure the project identifies safeguarding risks in implementation and puts in place mitigating actions.

Grievance Redress Mechanism

  • Grievance Redress Mechanism Management: Manage the Grievance Redress Mechanism ensuring that all stakeholders are aware of how to access the GRM, and that project grievances are satisfactorily assessed, processed and recorded.

  • GRM access points: Periodically assess and iterate the operational effectiveness of the GRM to improve it’s ability to by accessed by stakeholders and submissions be addressed.

Project Support

Project Support: General support for the project and CIP as directed.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Extensive, hands-on experience as a practitioner in rural development in India, in fields such as poverty reduction, gender, agriculture, WaSH, market systems development, agroforestry or other related areas working as a practitioner in rural development in India in a relevant field, i.e. poverty reduction, gender, agriculture, rural development, WaSH, market systems development, agroforestry or any related field.

  • Strong experience in safeguarding, including Free Prior & Informed Consent, Grievance Redress Mechanisms and the inclusion of marginalized community groups.

  • A basic understanding of CCB & VCS safeguarding standards.

  • Bachelors degree in Sustainable Development, Social Work, Agriculture or a related field.

This role is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract
