As a Candidate Coordinator, you'll be a crucial part of the Attraction and Development team. Your role will involve:
- Serving as the main point of contact for students interested in consulting.
- Conducting 1-1 coaching sessions and mock interviews.
- Helping with event and programme logistics.
- Conducting candidate interviews and case study practice.
- Informing students about opportunities with our clients.
- Booking sessions with our expert coaches.

It is essential that they share Rare’s social purpose, and have a university degree along with a successful consulting sector experience.

The Role
As a Candidate Coordinator, you will be part of the Attraction and Development team. You will do everything outlined below, and more besides. The good news is that we’ll train you to do all of this to a very high standard. The skills you acquire here will serve you for life.
Main responsibilities for working with students and graduates (our candidates):
- Be the main point of contact for the students interested in consulting - get to know them because, the more we do this, the better we can support them.
- Conducting 1-1 coaching sessions with allocated candidates, offering them CV and covering letter support, including answering queries, and encouraging accountability.
- Conducting mock interviews, case study practice, delivering online workshops, and offering support with a wide range of assessment centre tasks.
- Carrying out interviews for some of our development programmes.
- Informing students about opportunities with our clients and encouraging them to apply.
- Booking candidates in for sessions with our external expert coaches.
- Answering the phone and responding to general candidate queries.
- Dealing with requests from our clients.
- Helping with event and programme logistics.
- Attending client events and supervising candidate visits.
- Data entry and updating of our internal databases.
- Eating chocolate (people buy us chocolate when they get hired).
You will spend most of your working day in direct contact with students via email, phone calls and video calls.

About You
The key to success in this role is to be highly conscientious with high personal standards of integrity and organisation. You must also be a skilled communicator, be willing to learn and be flexible in your approach to adapt and prioritise effectively.
We are looking for someone with the ability to:
- Understand Rare’s social purpose and share our values.
- Be skilled at building relationships with candidates, clients, and other members of staff.
- Demonstrate superb and proven people skills, including the ability to build rapport with diverse students in person and over the phone.
- Demonstrate personability and patience for a very people-facing role.
- Have excellent attention to detail and organisational skills as the role is high volume and has a strong administrative element.
- Be highly conscientious and have high standards of integrity.
- Be keen to learn – you will need to understand how our business works, what our clients do, and who they want to hire.
- Be competent in the case studies predominantly used for consulting roles - you will need to get the candidates up to the level needed to succeed.
- Be flexible – the needs of the business change rapidly.
- Be commercial and focused on delivering results.
- Be tough and resilient. This is great work, and it can be intense.
- Be comfortable talking to people of any gender, ethnic or social background.
- Take feedback well.
- Provide constructive feedback to our candidates – it is our role to prepare them for the reality of work and sometimes that means having difficult conversations.
Experience and education requirements for the role:
- A university degree of at least a 2:1 in any subject. (essential)
- Excellent writing skills. (essential)
- Has an understanding of the consulting sector and has successfully secured a graduate role with a strategy consultancy. (essential)
- Work experience of almost any kind is valuable, especially if it involves customer or client-facing work. (desirable)
- Excel skills. Please state basic, intermediate or advanced. (desirable)
