Organisation summary Rivan Industries is building modular synthetic fuel plants to decarbonise heavy industry. Here's our whitepaper on how we're going to do it: https://rivan.com/the-case-for-synthetic-fuels/
Role Summary
- Own process engineering of Rivan’s Direct Air Capture (DAC) system.
- Tailor role to applicant's specialist skillset.
- Ideate novel architectures and system integrations for DAC processes.
- Run bench-scale testing and analysis of related chemical processes.
- Design and optimize unit operations across chemical loops.
- Integrate DAC module with methanation and electrolysis units.
- Design high-temperature, steam-rich, solids-handling systems.
- Specification and procurement of equipment.
- Own assembly, integration, site commissioning and testing of systems.
Role Requirements
- Innovative, problem-solving and ownership traits needed.
- Able to work in small teams with minimal bureaucratic processes.
- Expect ground up reasoning and execution at speed.
Rivan Industries is a synthetic fuel company decarbonising heavy industry. We’re making synthetic fuel cheaper than fossil fuels, sustaining life on earth by keeping the CO2 locked underground. There is no boilerplate engineering in this system, only the most innovative, problem solving engineers can thrive on this challenge. We practice our culture, working in small teams, expecting complete ownership and ground up reasoning from our engineers, whilst executing at speed. We operate with minimal process and bureaucracy, only what is essential to ensure our systems are safe, legally compliant, and deployed on time, everything else is up to you. The role: Own process engineering of Rivan’s DAC system. The role encompasses the full development cycle, but can be tailored to the specialist skillset of the applicant. We need you to: Ideate novel architectures and system integrations for a solid phase, cyclic lime-based DAC process. Run bench-scale testing and analysis of calcination, hydration, carbonation and sorbent cyclic stability. Own detailed design and optimisation of unit operations across the full CaCO₃ -> CaO -> Ca(OH)₂ -> CaCO₃ loop. Tightly integrate the DAC module with our methanation and electrolysis units. Design intelligent, inherently safe high-temperature, steam-rich, solids-handling systems. Specification and procure equipment. Own the assembly, integration, site commissioning and testing of our system.
