Role Summary

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. The King’s Trust couldn’t function as well without the support of thousands of volunteers across the UK, who are able to offer a vital support network to young people facing significant barriers to jobs, education or training. As a Business Mentor, you will be working with young people who have completed the King’s Trust Enterprise programme, which is designed to help 18 to 30-year-olds turn their ideas into a business reality. After launching their own business, all young people are matched with a Business Mentor to offer guidance, insight and support as they navigate the early stages of business management. Your role will be to champion and encourage them in their work, while offering constructive feedback to reinforce learning and inspire progress. Mentors are matched with a minimum of two young people at any time and usually meet at least once per month with each mentee. Volunteer business mentoring meetings can take place online, at a King’s Trust Centre or in a convenient public location that suits you both. We are looking for volunteers who have a passion and genuine desire to support young people, many of whom are experiencing significant personal barriers. For this role we are looking for someone with a good knowledge of the fundamentals of developing and growing a new business. More than this we want you bring to life your experience in a way that empowers our young people to do it for themselves, so being a great communicator, creative, flexible and non-judgemental is essential. A willingness to support young businesses outside of your own industry or experience is vital. We are seeking a diverse group of volunteers from different backgrounds to support our Enterprise project across the Liverpool and Lancashire area. We welcome all applicants, but are particularly keen to hear from women and those from an ethnic minority background, along with individuals who can offer specialist experience in the following areas: Finance, Legal, Commercial premises, Social media, Website design, Marketing, Copyright trade. Volunteering with The King’s Trust is highly valued, and we will work with you to ensure you can offer the best support to young people. Comprehensive training is provided, along with a dedicated point of contact to enable you get the best from your experience and ultimately help to create amazing outcomes for our young people.
