About Nohma
Nohma was formed after the success of our bestselling book, The Van Conversion Bible, to make off-grid energy simple for everyone. We created a service where we could not only understand a customer’s needs and requirements, carefully calculate and specify their system and supply every component they would need to install it, but also provide a bespoke wiring diagram and installation support at no extra cost.
To achieve this, we needed to think differently, by developing clever systems and automating as much of the process as possible. However, we wanted to ensure the very best support was provided throughout the customer’s journey, from enquiry through to system installation. This meant it was important we maintain a human approach, so throughout the process there is always a knowledgeable and friendly team member on hand to explain the available options, highlight considerations, provide updates on delivery, and help with answers and support during the install.
Every van conversion is different, and every electrical system should be too.
Job brief
We’re looking for a Technical Sales Engineer who can confidently talk to new customers about their requirements and create their bespoke electrical system proposal using calculations and technical thinking. Day to day you will manage many customers, all at different stages of their journey. You will need to effectively juggle answering new enquiries with creating quotes and responding to technical questions.
We want to ensure that our customers have exactly what they need and nothing more. Electrical systems are carefully calculated based on a customer’s requirements, and the systems we spec are based on exactly what is needed, not what will generate the most money. We want to build a team of technical experts who truly understand our products and services, delight our customers, and are competitive and driven to boot.
We’re proud to do things differently, and our team works remotely across the UK and further afield. We want to give you the flexibility to work wherever and whenever works best for you. As this is a full-time role, core hours are required, however we still offer as much flexibility as we can.
How our process works
- We respond to every customer enquiry with a series of questions to ensure we fully understand their requirements before creating their quote.
- Once we have all the information we need, we calculate their system requirements and put together their proposal.
- The customer reviews their proposal, asks any questions they might have, and may make some amendments to their system.
- Once a customer has ordered, engineers pass each customer over to our Ops team. The customer is kept up to date with expected delivery dates by Ops, and tracking information is sent over once everything has been dispatched.
If you enjoy problem-solving, are highly organised with great attention-to-detail, you thrive on helping others and have a technical brain, this could be the role for you.
Key responsibilities:
- Managing customers throughout their lifecycle, from new enquiry through to payment
- Liaising with customers to fully understand their needs, answer any technical questions, keep them up to date with the status of their order, etc.
- Creating quotes for bespoke electrical systems, using customer requirements to define their system
The ideal candidate:
- Experience in technical customer sales
- Highly organised and self-motivated
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritise and to multi-task
- Strong written communicator
- Highly analytical thinker
- Exceptional Excel / Google Sheets skills
- Highly technical, with a strong understanding of electricity and how electrical components work
- 2.1 or higher in a technical degree (e.g. physics, mathematics, engineering) or relevant technical work experience
- A strong interest in campervans, travel and off-grid living
Desirable skills:
- Experience using CRM software (monday.com)
- Experience using Google Suite (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Gmail, etc.)
Hours: Full-time (37.5hrs/week)
Location: Remote (must be a UK taxpayer)
Salary: £27,500–£32,500 (depending on experience) + performance based bonus
Perks:
- Remote and flexible working
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Performance-based bonus scheme of up to £4,000 annually, plus additional profit-share opportunities for exceeding targets
- Monthly caffeine credits to work from a cafe
- Employee discount on our products
- Enhanced maternity and paternity leave
Start date: 15 July (subject to notice period)
