After starting as a prepaid card, our product offering has grown a lot in the last 10 years in the UK. As well as personal and business bank accounts, we offer joint accounts, accounts for 16-17 year olds, a free kids account and credit cards in the UK, with more exciting things to come beyond. Our UK customers can also save, invest and combine their pensions with us. With our hot coral cards and get-paid-early feature, combined with financial education on social media and our award winning customer service, we have a long history of creating magical moments for our customers! We’re not about selling products - we want to solve problems and change lives through Monzo ❤️

This role sits at the heart of Monzo’s Control Discipline change agenda, supporting the delivery of a future, technology-first, and data-driven risk management model. As Monzo scales into new products and markets, this role will be instrumental in embedding agility, automation, and intelligence into how we manage risks and controls across the business.

⭐ Our Controls team The role will sit within the Controls organisation, working closely with cross-functional teams across the organisation including Technology, Data and Risk & Compliance. As this is a newly established team, this roleholder needs to bring a flexible and adaptable mindset, as well as a willingness to deal with ambiguity as the team establishes its operating rhythm and embeds itself within the wider business.

🔑 You’ll play a key role in... Leading the Control Discipline data and technology strategy and roadmap, making sure it aligns with Monzo’s expansion plans and Group Risk strategy. Creating a scalable operating model: Working with Risk & Control leads to design and deliver a service model that supports a global organisation. Risk & control data transformation: Partnering with Data and Engineering to translate risk management needs into technology and data requirements to achieve the scaling objectives and help Risk Engineering prioritise needs accordingly to support the transformation agenda. Real-time risk management: Supporting the shift from manual risk assessments to ‘always on’ risk management. This involves working with other risk managers to identify data-driven triggers, designing automated monitoring systems, and creating alerting mechanisms that empower risk owners to act on emerging threats in real-time rather than at a point in time. Platform Evolution: Working with 2nd Line and Technology to evolve our Risk & Control application strategy to deliver simplification, automation and enhanced user value. Innovation and AI: Championing AI in risk management by identifying enterprise partners to build sustainable solutions with Monzo, running PoCs and experiments where necessary, and building business cases to use AI-driven solutions in risk management. Where necessary, leading the contract negotiations and relationship management. Programme Management Office (PMO): Owning the transformation programme roadmap, including any reporting requirements to executives and committees, and keeping stakeholders engaged and consulted throughout the transformation lifecycle. Maintaining a central view of all initiatives, set milestones, identifying possible risks and dependencies, and tracking delivery against milestones. Supporting the ongoing development of our processes, systems and controls to ensure that they are scalable and aligned to our strategy. Managing project schedules, setting milestones, identifying possible issues and clearly communicating them to stakeholders. Technology & Data risk mindset: Instilling a culture of being technology and data led in the Control Discipline, identifying and partnering with culture carriers in the Discipline, to make sure the transformation programme delivers sustainable value. Collaboration, Communication & Leadership: Bringing excellent stakeholder management, building strong partnerships with Risk, Data, Product, Engineering, Procurement, 3rd parties, and Control leads to deliver change.
