ABOUT US

Holon is a seed-stage healthcare startup at the intersection of functional medicine, AI and frontier healing technologies. Holon is working at the forefront of solving our chronic health crisis, and has a physical space in Glasgow, a product line, and is in the process of scaling physically and digitally across the UK and Europe.

The Consciousness Foundation (CoFo) is a philanthropic organisation dedicated to advancing the science and development of consciousness across individuals, cultures, and systems. CoFo’s work fosters progress in consciousness science through grantmaking, research & development, and field building with the vision that consciousness becomes a primary pillar of society.

Joshua: Joshua Fields is an Oxford and Harvard-educated entrepreneur and nonprofit leader who has spent the last decade focused on the intersection of science, technology and consciousness. He is the founder and CEO of Holon and the founding Executive Director of The Consciousness Foundation. He is also the former Executive Director of Consciousness Hacking, a nonprofit across 50 cities that established the first global ecosystem around consciousness technologies; the co-founder of the Awakened Futures Summit on psychedelics, meditation and technology; and formerly an FX analyst at Morgan Stanley.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for a mission-driven operator and generalist to be Joshua’s right-hand to amplify his work across the two organisations he leads: Holon and The Consciousness Foundation. The ideal candidate will be practical, organised, thoughtful, great at creating thorough structures and plans, and someone who can carry things out with responsiveness, thoughtfulness, and a high degree of quality. The right person may have past experience managing senior external relationships, working in a fast-changing startup environment, and strategically supporting an entrepreneur.

If you’re strategic, highly organised, detail-oriented, and passionate about human flourishing, we’d love to meet you. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to learn how to build high-quality startups and high-impact science organisations alongside the leader of two organisations.

This role will be employed by Holon with a 50% split of responsibilities across each organisation. We are looking for a candidate who will thrive when context switching between different types of organisations and timelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role will act as a right-hand and force multiplier for Joshua, supporting him on carrying out the missions and the operational priorities across his initiatives.  This includes:

Prioritisation management: keep Joshua dynamically focused on his top priorities while balancing a complex and changing set of opportunities, relationships, and projects

  • Project management: lead and manage a project management system for his work, ensuring both daily and long-term priorities are on track and prioritized appropriately
  • Inbox management: work with a future Executive Assistant to triage Joshua’s inbox, delegate or own portions of it, and come to Joshua with one unified to-do list
  • Calendar management: help prioritize and triage Joshua’s calendar and time

Strategic projects: manage major projects across both organisations

  • Lead or support on important initiatives, including project management, conducting research, managing stakeholders, and executing on operations
  • Projects may include: opening new sites, incubating product lines, planning convenings and conferences, and managing digital storytelling

Operations management:

  • Lead org-wise roadmap tracking across both teams to ensure all projects and stakeholders are resourced and on-time
  • Manage specific projects as a project manager as requested
  • Manage budgeting and financial tracking in partnership with bookkeepers and accountants across both organisations
  • Manage vendors, consultants, and legal counsel relationships across both organisations
  • Manage recruiting operations as requested

Communication and relationships:

  • Help Joshua manage external relationships, such as with funders, grantees, customers, partner organisations, institutional leaders, and communications channels
  • Act as a representative for Joshua with internal team members across his teams, keeping strong two-way communication flowing
  • Help craft emails and documents on Joshua’s behalf
  • Represent Joshua at meetings as needed

Lead the hiring of an Executive Assistant:

  • Stage 1: Develop a deep understanding of how Joshua works - including temporarily owning scheduling and inbox systems for the first few months - in order to understand the needed infrastructure and systems for an Executive Assistant
  • Stage 2: Lead the charge in hiring the Executive Assistant

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

  • Terms: Full-time employee with Holon, with a 50% split of responsibilities across each organisation
  • Compensation & Benefits: £80k-£110k a year; equity at Holon possible for the right candidate
  • Location: This is a hybrid role based in the United Kingdom, with a strong preference for candidates who are able to work in-person several days a week in London. We strongly prefer candidates who already have the right to work in the UK and are also willing to travel regularly for work.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-8 years of experience as a chief of staff, founder associate, product manager, management consultant, or early employee in a startup
  • Very strong operational instincts; you are detail-oriented, bring order to chaos, are reliable and responsive, are exceptional at keeping the train running on time and are happy to get into the weeds and do what needs to be done
  • Strong relationship management skills, with a gift for written and verbal communication, and past experience managing high level relationships with c-suite executives, thought leaders, and funders
  • Proactive and creative problem solver who can take initiative, ask great questions, use first principles thinking, and learn and build quickly
  • Prior experience in early-stage startup environments that are dynamic and constantly changing
  • High emotional intelligence: self-awareness, conscientiousness, feedback and listening skills, and growth mindset
  • Very comfortable working with software systems such as Google Drive, Notion, Slack, Webflow, Mercury, Claude/ChatGPT, and in sourcing and building software for new projects
  • A keen personal interest in consciousness, health, and human flourishing: we are looking for someone who resonates with what we’re building
