Bored, stuck and unfulfilled in a corporate-style job? I was too.

I spent eight years as a History teacher in inner city London, taking promotions that somehow left me more empty, staying "just one more year" until I finally did something about it.

After work, I started building an AI & Marketing agency for private healthcare clinics, from nothing, with no background in marketing, healthcare, sales or business. I just got started and then figured it out as I went along. I'm continuing to do exactly that and I'm looking for someone who wouldn't feel scared to do the same thing.

I was able to leave that job, work full time at the company and jump into my new life in 2023.

The company, Grow Patiently, is an AI-first marketing agency helping private healthcare clinics across the UK and US grow their patient base.

Now, I've personally sold over half a million in revenue, built an eight-person team delivering our services, and we're at £30k/month with healthy profit margins and growth consistently in the green. Thankfully, I'm living a life much closer to what I wanted, one where the work structures aren't as exhausting to deal with, and where it feels meaningful because I can directly see the impact of my work.

A friend told me about Escape the City when I was first thinking about leaving teaching. He joined and built a company, had an excellent exit after what sounded like a great adventure, and is now setting up his next one. I've since had quite a few friends who have joined companies at interesting times and been integral to their growth. That's why I'm here now, looking for someone who wants a similar shot.

Because I need someone to come and help lead the growth side of the business, someone who can handle the key growth tasks, face prospects and clients comfortably, and help build this company higher, rather than working in the day-to-day services.

I'm less interested in whether you've worked in healthcare, marketing or AI before, or what university degree you have or don't have, and more interested in whether you can learn fast, solve problems and sell.

What I'm looking for is the skills that you have, someone who's a problem-solver, who likes to achieve things, and gets a bit of a buzz from it.

I'm looking for someone ready to build and manage a sales pipeline, come up with growth ideas, and ultimately sign new clients. Someone who finds that energising rather than terrifying. Someone who can face any client or any problem front-facing, even if they don't know the answer, because that's exactly how I like to work.

Up to this point I've done 95% of the company's own sales and marketing myself, so you'll have someone to learn from and build with, not just someone throwing targets at you.

This isn't a contractor role. I'm looking for someone who wants to get in at an exciting stage and be genuinely rewarded for what they help build. For the right person, there's equity on the table.

The role comes with a £35k base rising to £40k after a strong first year, a monthly wellness benefit (eg, private healthcare insurance - dental & optical - and/or a wellness allowance like Heka), commission on all deals you help bring in, plus an annual options review.

In the first 90 days I'd want you booking clinic audits (an early piece of the sales funnel), building a pipeline, and signing your first client.

We work fully remotely, but I'm London-based and it would be great if someone was nearby - someone I can grab a coffee with, think out loud with, and build alongside in person.

No two days look the same too - that’s for certain! And I'm hoping that the person who joins will have genuine influence over where this goes.

If you're tired of being a cog in something too big, too slow, or not something you can feel ownership over, and you're looking for something flexible but genuinely hard work, please get in touch.
