Together, we aim to revolutionise transport and logistics in Africa’s cities. ‍ Job Summary: The Senior Data Analyst leads data mastery for designated business areas, ensuring stakeholders have access to accurate, timely metrics. They translate historical trends, user behaviour, and product insights into reports and visualisations that inform decision-making, and enforce data quality and governance standards in their day-to-day work. This role requires a seasoned analyst who can operate independently on complex problems, support junior team members, and serve as a trusted execution partner to the Head of BI & Analytics. ‍ Key Responsibilities: Data Quality & Governance: Enforce data quality standards and governance protocols established by the Head of BI & Analytics — including documentation, validation, and access control practices — within their assigned business areas. Analysis & Insight Delivery: Collect and analyse data using PostgreSQL, Python, and Excel. Develop and optimise advanced SQL functions for robust, repeatable analysis. Visualisation & Reporting: Build dashboards and reports using Power BI, Looker Studio, or Metabase that give stakeholders clear, actionable visibility into performance. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Operations, Marketing, Product, and Data Engineering to define key metrics and KPIs, and to ensure data pipelines feeding their analysis are sound. Statistical Analysis: Apply statistical and modelling techniques to identify trends and patterns that inform business decisions. Team Supervision: Supervise and support Data Analyst(s) and Junior Data Analyst(s) in their day-to-day work, including review of outputs and skill development. Agile Delivery: Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, and help identify opportunities for process improvement within the analytics function. ‍ Qualifications Educational Background : Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. Experience : 4+ years of proven experience in data analysis or a related field, leading data teams. Analytical Proficiency : Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, and other data analysis tools. Strategic Insights : Demonstrated ability to provide strategic insights based on complex data analysis. Domain Expertise : Experience in ride-hailing, transportation, or fintech is an advantage. ‍ Key Competencies Demonstrated experience leading data teams with clear systems of goal setting and continuous evaluation Knowledge of Agile development practices with experience in a sprint-based environment.. Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Experience in building and maintaining open-source data pipeline solutions. Proficiency in Python, along with expertise in data visualization libraries like Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Plotly. Ability to automate data tasks using advanced programming languages like Google App Script or Python. Demonstrated expertise in SQL with a focus on handling large datasets. Proven experience in managing PostgreSQL database systems. Experience in the ride-hailing or transportation industry.
