Role Summary

Role Requirements

  • Proven experience in managing and developing technical teams.
  • Significant experience in quality (QMS) and regulatory compliance for consumer appliances.
  • Mastery of Quality Tools (8D, Six Sigma, PFMEA, Lean).
  • Ability to summarize complex technical data for executive-level stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated operational agility in a fast-paced environment.

As the Senior Manager, Quality you are the technical authority for Ooni’s quality management system and supplier management and development programs.  continuous product improvement. You will lead the day-to-day functional excellence of the quality team, ensuring that Ooni’s rigorous standards are maintained as we scale.  This role will involve designing and implementing operating models and process improvements both at Ooni and with our suppliers. You will act as the primary bridge between Product Development (NPD) and mass production, ensuring "Design for Quality" isn't just a phrase, but a verified reality.  This is an onsite role, working between our office in Shanghai and our Suppliers across China.  What you’ll do: Strategy: Set the Quality strategy for Ooni including building connections across the entire Ooni value-stream to gather feedback, inform priorities and provide overall improvement to our processes. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of 3, dedicating significant time to their growth and fostering a culture of excellence. Process Governance: Design and implement governance standards for product requirements across the entire lifecycle, ensuring process rigor in everything from design validation to field performance monitoring. Supplier Strategy Execution: Define and evolve the global supplier quality strategy and audit governance model, acting as the senior escalation point for supplier challenges. Advanced Problem Solving: Lead the CAPA framework and root-cause analysis (8D, DMAIC) for complex technical issues that require high-level analytical thinking. Cross-Functional Integration: Partner with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Sourcing/Supplier Management to embed quality standards into agreements and production workflows. Technical Authority: Serve as a key decision-maker for technical problems where data may be incomplete, balancing day-to-day operations with mid-term functional goals. For functional-wide governance or "unsolvable" conflicts, escalate to and collaborate with the Principal & Director (or higher as needed) Quality Systems: Oversee the evolution of the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure integration with business tools like SAP. Essential Skills and Experience: Leadership: Proven experience in managing and developing technical teams within a fast-paced consumer goods environment. Technical Expertise: Significant experience in quality (QMS) and regulatory compliance for consumer appliances or gas/electrical products. Problem Solving: Mastery of Quality Tools (8D, Six Sigma, PFMEA, Lean) with a "system-thinking" approach. Communication: Ability to summarize complex technical data for executive-level stakeholders and persuade cross-functional partners. Operational Agility: Demonstrated ability to think 12 months ahead while maintaining hands-on oversight of manufacturing quality Desirable Skills and Experience: Experience scaling processes for a mid-sized, rapidly growing company. Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation. Experience with risk-assessment methods for products where standards are not yet fully defined. Why Ooni?
