About Us

At Founders Pledge, our mission is to empower entrepreneurs to do immense good with their charitable giving. Since launching in 2015, our community of over 2,200 members has pledged nearly $13.6B and donated $1.8B+ to the charitable sector in 45+ countries.

We provide end-to-end giving infrastructure, pioneering research, and access to a global network of experts. In other words, we help tech leaders become strategic philanthropists. Our members include founders and leaders behind companies such as Airbnb, UiPath, Dropbox, Skype, Spotify, and Uber.

We focus on deploying capital where it can achieve the greatest impact, guided by evidence, careful analysis, and long-term thinking.

About the Role

Compensation: $95,000 - $100,000 USD.

We're looking for a NYC-based Editorial Manager to join our five-person Communications team, reporting to our Director of Communications.

This role sits at the center of how Founders Pledge communicates externally. You'll own our editorial standards, lead thought leadership and ghostwriting, and be a key partner in our earned media work. We're looking for someone who has spent time in a newsroom or journalism environment and brings that instinct for story, precision, and speed to a mission-driven context. This is a hands-on, high ownership role. You'll work closely with senior leaders and colleagues across the organization, translating complex ideas into content that resonates with our members, founders, and the wider public.

What You’ll Do

Thought leadership & ghostwriting

  • Partner with senior leadership to develop and ghostwrite high-quality thought leadership content, including op-eds, speeches, and bylined articles

  • Identify compelling narratives and strategic communications opportunities that advance our positioning with donors, media, and the wider philanthropic sector

  • Own the editorial voice of Founders Pledge, ensuring everything we produce reflects clarity, quality, and strategic intent

Editing & editorial standards

  • Edit and refine a wide range of materials, including reports, blogs, newsletters, donor materials, web copy, and reactive communications

  • Maintain and evolve our editorial standards, style guide, and tone of voice guidance across all communications outputs

  • Build scalable editorial processes and quality-control systems across the Communications function

  • In partnership with the Senior Marketing & Brand Manager, own the communications calendar and sequencing of content across channels, coordinating planning, launches, and key organizational moments

Earned media support

  • Partner with the Director of Communications on earned media strategy and execution, including press statements, talking points, briefing documents, and media-facing materials

  • Draw on prior journalism or media experience to bring credibility and craft to how we engage press and develop story angles

What We’re Looking For

We're looking for a sharp, collaborative editorial professional with a background in journalism or media and a genuine passion for social impact.

You'll bring:

  • Exceptional editing and writing skills, with strong editorial judgment and a high bar for quality

  • A background in journalism, publishing, or media — you've worked in or alongside a newsroom and bring that instinct for story and precision

  • Experience ghostwriting or developing thought leadership content for senior leaders or executives

  • The ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling, audience-aware communications

  • Experience supporting earned media, including press statements, op-eds, talking points, or media briefings

  • Strong project management skills, with experience managing communications calendars and multiple workstreams simultaneously

  • A collaborative working style and comfort operating in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment

Nice to have:

  • Experience in public affairs, policy communications, or think tank environments

  • Experience building editorial workflows, style guides, or scalable content systems

  • Familiarity with AI tools to support editorial quality and content workflows

Location and Travel Requirements

This role is based in New York City, with a hybrid work model (one day per week in-office) at WeWork Union Square.

You'll also be expected to join team offsites throughout the year, including an annual global offsite.

Application Deadline

Applications will be accepted until end of the day 12th July.
