Job Summary: The Head of BI & Analytics owns SafeBoda's end-to-end data function from infrastructure and governance through to analytics strategy and organisational capability. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for ensuring that the business operates with real-time visibility, rigorous data quality, and the analytical capability to make confident decisions at every level. The role spans technical architecture, team development, executive insight delivery, and the embedding of a data-driven culture across Uganda and Kenya markets.

Key Responsibilities: Data Governance: Establish and enforce the enterprise governance framework: data classification, access controls, pipeline versioning, documentation standards, and quality monitoring. Analytics Strategy: Own the multi-year BI and analytics roadmap, aligned to business objectives across ride-hailing and fintech verticals. Manage delivery against OKR and SLA frameworks. Executive Insight: Develop analyses and KPI frameworks providing real-time business visibility. Translate complex findings into clear, decision-ready narratives for C-level audiences. Cross-Functional Partnership: Embed data into decision-making workflows across Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Product. Ensure all departments are operating with data-informed strategies. Data Infrastructure: Architect and maintain the company's data platform including but not limited to ETL pipelines, data warehouse, and server environment. Team & Capability Development: Lead and develop a team of data professionals. Design and deliver internal data literacy programmes that build analytical capability across the wider organisation.

Qualifications & Key Competencies A graduate degree, MBA.or equivalent in a quantitative field such as engineering, mathematics, statistics, 6+ years of professional experience with at least 3 years in a data leadership role, ideally within a high-growth technology or fintech environment. Hands-on proficiency with SQL, Python, and at least one major BI platform (Power BI, Tableau, Metabase, or equivalent). Prior management and team-building experience necessary. Proven business strategy and consulting experience - you can navigate ambiguity, juggle multiple tasks, think independently, and problem-solve in a structured manner. Data analytics expertise with a passion for quantitative analysis. Knowledge of software packages for data analysis is a plus. Be an Excel whizz and be comfortable modeling and manipulating data. Problem-Solving Skills: Skilled in identifying and solving complex business challenges using data. Technical Knowledge: Understanding of data architecture, database systems, and data governance principles. Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Commitment to innovation in BI technologies and methodologies, and to continually improving data processes. Change Management: Experience in managing change, particularly in guiding an organization to be more data-driven.
