Head of Innovation Delivery

THE ROLE: Location: Birmingham, we operate a Hybrid working policy and employees are required to be in the Birmingham office 2 days per week Hours: Full time Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week Deadline: 10th July 2026

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING: The Head of Innovation Delivery is responsible for delivering Bryt Energy’s innovation and product strategy and roadmap, and will have overall responsibility for the full product lifecycle (from initial concept through launch & delivery to end of life). The role will identify, evaluate, and develop emerging technologies and business models, create and deliver innovative propositions to market, and manage a portfolio of pilot initiatives to ensure successful delivery and scaling into business-as-usual readiness. The postholder will work closely with the Strategy & Innovation Director, the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and SMEs from across the business to turn Bryt Energy’s strategy into company and team priorities while maintaining Bryt’s entrepreneurial, customer-focused culture.

YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR: A member of the Bryt Energy Senior Leadership Team providing leadership, ownership and structure to the company wide product and innovation growth strategies. Budget responsibility for managing the Innovation Delivery team controllable overheads, and delivery of margins from new commercial opportunities. Strategy Contribution Create, build and develop a comprehensive innovation strategy and associated roadmap that enables the business to meet it’s long-term strategic objectives Engage and influence external partners and internal stakeholders to identify emerging technologies, business models, and propositions to provide insight into the further development and direction of the company strategy Support strategy and business plan scenario planning with input on proposed innovations and their impact on future business performance, recommending new and alternative strategies for future growth Innovation Strategy & Roadmap Own, and lead delivery of, the innovation strategy and roadmap from concept all the way through to implementation into BAU operational activity Ensure that market, industry and regulatory changes, and their implications for Bryt’s innovaton roadmap and product suite are understood, assessed, and the risks, opportunities and recommendations for action are communicated Work with the Head of Business Development to produce commercially focused and robust business cases for new developments, taking responsibility for modelling development costs and resources, initial operational requirements, and sign off and prioritisation as part of the governance framework Innovation Portfolio Management Create and maintain a robust governance framework to evaluate, prioritise and manage the innovation roadmap to delivery, incorporating capability requirements, customer and market insight, and identified success criteria Oversee rapid development and delivery of pilot projects, ensuring these are operated robustly and effectively ‘offline’ whilst agreeing their transition plan with the owners of the BAU processes and systems Manage the transition of successful pilots into BAU, with clearly defined objectives and metrics to monitor the successful integration

Internal & External Collaboration Lead and develop your direct report(s) with a coaching style and performance management to support their development and ensure achievement of objectives Lead engagement and communication with stakeholders from each area of the business to understand their requirements and constraints for new developments, and ensure that SMEs are available and released from relevant teams to support development and delivery Work closely with key stakeholders within Statkraft to ensure that innovation proposals address their requirements and risks, and obtain any necessary approvals for implementation Maintain relationships with technology providers, industry innovators, and identified partners to ensure that Bryt is aware of relevant developments and can identify risks and opportunities Build and promote a culture of innovative thinking, agile development and robust MVP delivery across the team and the wider business Represent Strategy & Innovation in project/portfolio forums

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: Essential Extensive knowledge of the electricity supply industry, with a focus on the products and the range of customer solutions offered by suppliers and TPIs for the I&C and B2B market Proven ability to instigate and deliver change, to deliver and manage pilot innovations at MVP scale, and to transition these into the relevant areas of the business for BAU operations Experience of leading and inspiring teams, with a focus on mentoring and coaching and a demonstrated ability to gain the trust and support of a wide range of internal colleagues Experience of working with key stakeholders from across a business, with the proven ability to articulate strategy and innovation development in such a way as to engage and influence business stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes Effective, adaptable and persuasive communication skills at all levels of the business, having credibility with stakeholders, suppliers and other industry experts alike. Excellent organisational and time management skills with the initiative and ability to proactively plan and prioritise own work, and to work effectively under pressure Desirable Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent Knowledge of energy transition technologies and products, and the range of solutions offered by suppliers, aggregators and TPIs for the emerging flexibility optimisation market Experience of working in similar senior level innovation/product development and delivery roles Strong commercial awareness and experience in identifying and developing business opportunities, and clearly and concisely recommending actions to maximise value for the company Possess a confident and professional manner, able to remain calm under pressure, even when dealing with challenging situations.
