Rivan Industries is a pioneering synthetic fuel company focused on decarbonizing heavy industry. Our mission is to make synthetic fuel more affordable than fossil fuels, thereby sustaining life on earth by keeping CO2 locked underground. We design and manufacture modular synthetic fuel plants that include a DAC system, an Alkaline Electrolyser, and a Sabatier Reactor, and integrate vertically with off-grid DC solar and the European gas-grid.
The role: As a Chemical Lab Technician at Rivan, you will support experimental work underpinning our lime-based DAC process through hands-on laboratory testing, apparatus assembly, and data analysis. You will design, build, and operate lab and bench-scale experiments involving solid–gas reactions (hydration, carbonation, calcination), and gas separation. Your responsibilities will include executing test plans, collecting and analyzing data, and presenting findings to the broader R&D and engineering teams. You will also contribute to experimental design using Design of Experiments (DoE) principles and assist in developing safe, repeatable test procedures.
Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years of laboratory or pilot-scale experience in a chemical/process engineering or applied chemistry environment. You should hold an HNC/HND, BSc, or equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline. Hands-on experience with experimental setup design, instrumentation, and data collection is essential. Familiarity with gas-solid systems, such as adsorption, and competence in data analysis and report generation (Excel, MATLAB, Python, or equivalent) are required. A working knowledge of health and safety in chemical laboratories and pilot environments is also necessary.
Benefits: The position offers a competitive salary of £40k depending on experience, significant share options as part of the early team, and unlimited time-off. The role is based in-person at our headquarters in Bermondsey, South-East London.
