Rivan Industries is a pioneering synthetic fuel company focused on decarbonizing heavy industry. Our mission is to make synthetic fuel more affordable than fossil fuels, thereby sustaining life on Earth by keeping CO2 locked underground. We design and manufacture modular synthetic fuel plants that include a DAC system, an Alkaline Electrolyser, and a Sabatier Reactor. These systems are integrated with off-grid DC solar and the European gas-grid. We have recently deployed the UK's largest synthetic fuel plant and are planning to significantly scale our operations.
The role: As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Rivan Industries, you will take full ownership of one of our critical sub-systems. Your responsibilities will include the design and manufacture of subsystems across our reactor, electrolyser, and DAC modules. This role involves working on various aspects such as cooling, heating, compression, mass-transport, fluidic, and filtration systems. You will be expected to iterate on original concepts, manage design reviews, handle technical requirements, P&IDs, PFDs, and test plans, and design test-rigs to validate hypotheses efficiently and cost-effectively. Additionally, you will oversee the assembly, integration, and commissioning of the subsystem.
Core skills required: The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of professional experience and hold a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in mechanical, aero, or a related field. A fundamental understanding of thermofluids, heat and mass transfer, and chemical kinetics is essential. Experience in system design, including component sourcing, CAD (SolidWorks), design for manufacture/assembly, simulation/analytical modeling, test setup design, running experiments, and data analysis is required.
Benefits: The position offers a competitive salary ranging from £70,000 to £90,000, depending on experience, with significant share options as part of the early team. The role is based in-person at our headquarters in Bermondsey, South-East London. We provide extensive relocation support, including an additional £6000 per year to live close to our HQ, and offer unlimited time-off.
