We have four posts available. 2 x Full-time Manchester, Newcastle or York 1 x Full-time Birmingham 1 x Part-time 0.5FTE Manchester These are all permanent posts.

What you will be doing Through the work of the Historic Places Regeneration Team, we demonstrate the transformational power of heritage in creating successful places. The team works collaboratively to deliver for people and places where we can make the biggest difference.

The team leads place-shaping activity and investment across the region. It is responsible for the initiation, development, delivery, evaluation and celebration of targeted interventions and engagement in priority places. To support its work, the Historic Places Regeneration Team draws on the breadth of expertise and tools we have available, including the heritage at risk programme, engagement, expert advice, grants and research, to affect positive and long-lasting change.

Meaningful partnerships with regional and local authorities, businesses, community groups, charities and other national agencies are central to the work of the team, helping to deliver creative projects that leverage the value of heritage to deliver wider societal benefits.

The Historic Places Regeneration Officer will support delivery of our programme for priority places, working closely with the Historic Places Regeneration Advisers and other colleagues in the Historic Places Regeneration Team. Regeneration Officers will draw on their skills, whether project management, archaeological, urban design, community engagement, etc., to deliver exemplary and impactful projects.

Regeneration Officers make full use of Historic England’s breath of expertise and tools, including grants (both Historic England and Defra funded) and the heritage at risk programme, and they work with external partners to transform the heritage that matters to communities through heritage led regeneration.
