- 5+ years in analytics, preferably from Ecom/Marketplace background.
- Strong SQL experience, knowledge of Google Cloud, Tableau/Power BI/Looker.
- Proficiency in Python or R, leveraging Vertex AI.
- Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
ROLE SCOPE At World of Books (WoB), each analyst is key to advancing our analytical capabilities and data maturity, enabling the next stage of our growth. This role is an individual contributor focused on reporting and analytics in the US (but based in the UK) to enable our Pricing strategy across buying and selling. The role will evolve as part of our transformation where initially you will be focused on enabling pricing in its current state with trialing, through our existing system and supporting on key seasonal periods; this will evolve with our new pricing system so you’ll also have a key focus on understanding simulations and its impact on key metrics. The role will evolve in line with business needs. The role also participates within our cross-company Pricing Squad which gives a unique opportunity to partner across commercial, operations, technology, product and analytics teams to collectively drive our Pricing Strategy.
The Pricing Analyst will play a key role in: Leading initiatives end-to-end which involves building and validating datasets, developing reporting, analysing complex datasets, presenting results and actionable recommendations, and measurement of resulting actions. Building and maintaining reporting including defining and owning metrics as relevant. Running analysis that can comprise of: Analysis that drives strategic decisions and sizes the opportunity Understanding and answering business questions in the simplest way i.e. 80/20 pareto principle Quantifying and challenging hypotheses and assumptions Understanding drivers of business performance Analysing simulations Leading and executing on trials including: EDA & trial proposal ASIN selection & checks Trial readouts & documentation Implementing and checking prices have been correctly and accurately run through our pricing system and debugging any errors raised. Ensuring robust statistical and analytical methods are used. Effectively collaborating and managing stakeholders by understanding their needs and managing their expectations, to challenging business partners to encourage healthy debate and the best outcome for the business. Cross-functionally collaborating closely with key business partners, Product, Tech, and others. Communicating insights effectively, translating complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations with a strong focus on commercial impact. Engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior executives. Improving efficiency by automating analysis to ensure focus is on new value-add analysis. Contributing to initiatives for the broader analytics and data science team and community Continuously learning and raising the bar for quality and rigour. This role will be hybrid working with at least two days a week at the Montgomery office, ideally on Tue and Thu.
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science or related field from a leading university. 5+ years in analytics, and ideally from Ecom/Marketplace background. SQL – strong experience required; can debug code and explore and query raw data; in Google Cloud environment. Experience working with large datasets. BI & visualisation – knowledge of Tableau/Power BI/Looker; can spin up dashboards that non-analysts actually use. Python – some experience in this, or R; leveraging Vertex AI. Analytics experience Deep-dive root cause analysis – understand the whys and root cause of a problem. User funnel analysis – understanding drop-offs and investigating. Experiment design – A/B, multivariate and incrementality tests including sampling methodologies. Nice-to-have Customer intelligence – segmentation, LTV forecasting and cohort survival analysis. Predictive analytics – regression, classification and time-series models that forecast revenue, churn and demand spikes. Ability to collaborate across teams, with strong communication skills for engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Good organizational and time management skills, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously. Some confidence in dealing with ambiguity and changing directions.
