About the Internship We’re recruiting an intern in our US office and seeking early-career professionals who want to apply their foundational skills to real-world social challenges. This is an entry point into applied behavioral science and consulting for students, recent graduates, or individuals with up to 2 years of experience who are eager to build a career in this space. You’ll support live client projects alongside our experienced advisors, receiving structured training, hands-on mentorship, and ongoing feedback. You’ll be paired with a line manager, join our team meetings, and have access to our learning and development platform, internal training, and talks from visiting researchers and practitioners. Where an Intern performs strongly, and a business case exists, the Internship can lead to a permanent offer as a Research Analyst. What you’ll do As an Intern, you will support BIT US’ ongoing projects while developing your skills in consulting, research, behavioral science, and policy development. Key tasks and learning opportunities include: Quantitative data analysis: data cleaning, performing descriptive and causal analyses in Stata or R. Qualitative data analysis: supporting interview or focus group facilitation, taking notes, conducting thematic or framework analyses. Data collection: supporting coding of survey instruments, monitoring data collection, updating dashboards. Desk research: reviewing the evidence base to identify relevant findings, evaluating the strength and quality of evidence, and preparing summary notes. Organizational support: contributing to making BIT better by supporting various company initiatives and team needs, including organizing social events, helping with business development, or joining an internal project team. Interns receive a lot of support, guidance, and on-the-job training. As you grow in the role, you’ll take on more responsibility and contribute more significantly to project tasks. Technical skills training can be provided, but candidates should have an interest in data and research practices, as it is a large part of the role. Interest in behavioral science and evaluation: You understand and can explain and apply central BI concepts (e.g., defaults, loss aversion, and social norms). You are interested in contributing to the design of mixed-methods evaluations (including, but not limited to, randomized controlled trials, surveys, interviews, user testing, etc). We’d also be glad to see: A willingness to take on a range of tasks across different policy areas. Comfort working for a small organization, including a high tolerance for ambiguity and change. Experience with or an interest in public or non-profit sectors. Experience with data analysis and statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, Python). Professional fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, or French (an asset, but not mandatory). Commitment and schedule Duration: 12–16 weeks initially, with the possibility of extension Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week) or part-time (minimum 2–3 days/week, less than this makes it hard to integrate meaningfully into project work) Core hours: We expect interns to be online and available for meetings and collaboration between 10am–4pm ET. Outside those hours, you’re free to structure your time however works best for you. Start date: Fall 2026. Exact start date is flexible, though it will need to fall on the 1st or 16th of the month. Compensation Pay Range: $28.00 – $31.00 per hour Structure: Pay structure (hourly vs. salary) and final rate will be determined based on the intern’s specific situation and qualifications. Location This is a remote role. We have an office in New York City, but relocation is optional and unsupported. We can hire fellows based in the following states: Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania.
