We are hiring an Associate to support with financial operations & investor relations

Summary

We are hiring for a new role on the operations and investor relations side of Sand River — it is not an investment or deal-execution role. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who wants to learn how an investment firm is run from the inside. Your role will touch on: how a fund is raised, operated, reported on, and how relationships with investors are built and maintained.

We're looking for someone who is keen to learn and grow with the role. You won't be expected to arrive with all the answers — you will be given time, direction, and support to develop into a core member of a small, ambitious team as Sand River grows its portfolio and raises its first committed capital fund.

6-month initial contract, with a view to a permanent role thereafter

The Role

You will work within the business operations and investor relations function, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the firm and the way Sand River communicates with and reports to its investors. Responsibilities will grow with you, but will typically include:

Operations

• Supporting the day-to-day operations of the firm, including systems, tools, and processes as the team scales
• Assisting with financial administration — expenses, invoices, and liaison with external accountants/administrators
• Helping coordinate compliance and regulatory administration as the firm formalises its fund structure, working alongside external advisors
• Managing supplier and vendor relationships and contracts
• Supporting office management across our Gloucestershire and London locations
• Helping coordinate board meetings, team offsites, and events
• Maintaining internal data and CRM systems, including portfolio and pipeline tracking

Investor Relations

• Supporting the preparation of investor materials, including reports, portfolio updates, and ESG/impact reporting
• Assisting with fundraising materials — pitch decks, data rooms, and due diligence questionnaires (DDQs)
• Helping manage investor communications and responding to routine investor queries
• Maintaining the investor database/CRM and helping coordinate LP meetings, calls, and events
• Supporting market research and benchmarking to inform fundraising

General

• Taking on ad hoc projects across the business as they arise
• Getting involved in wider firm initiatives as the fund grows

About You

• Relevant work experience (we are looking for prior experience in finance, professional services, or an operations function)
• Highly organised, with an "everything matters" attention to detail
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Numerate and comfortable working with data and reporting
• Very tech savvy — comfortable building AI processes, and with Gsuite, MS Office, etc.
• Self-motivated, with a positive, can-do attitude and comfort with ambiguity in a small, fast-growing team
• High emotional intelligence and the discretion to handle confidential information
• Comfortable working in international and diverse environments
• A genuine interest in nature, climate, and impact investing
• Above all, curiosity and a real willingness to learn — this role is designed to develop with you

Practicalities

• Location: London with work between our London office, Gloucestershire and WFH
• Expect to split your time between remote work and our office locations
• Initial 6-month contract, with a strong view to converting to a permanent role thereafter
• Occasional travel for team off-sites or portfolio visits
