The Woodland Trust is the UK's leading woodland conservation charity dedicated to creating a world where trees and woods thrive for both people and nature. Our mission involves engaging and inspiring individuals to contribute toward tackling the nature and climate crisis through the protection, restoration, and creation of essential woodland habitats.

The role: As the Programme Manager for the Trees for All initiative, you will oversee the delivery of our new UK-wide programme aimed at tackling inequitable access to trees and woods. You will ensure we meet our goals and deadlines, collaborate with stakeholders including MPs, civil servants, and health professionals, and provide strategic leadership on tree equity. Additionally, you will monitor and report on the impact and outcomes of activities within the programme, support teams to enhance the tree equity impact of existing programmes, and develop projects and activities within the Trees for All programme plan. You will also act as a subject matter expert on tree equity for internal and external stakeholders and projects, including community engagement and research. This role includes a mix of working from home and at our main office in Grantham, Lincolnshire, with visits required no more than once a month on average.

Job requirements: We are looking for candidates who have experience in delivering and developing successful projects, including budget management. You should have knowledge of programme management, experience working with communities, particularly those experiencing social, economic, and environmental deprivation, and strong stakeholder management skills. Additionally, you should have strong knowledge on data interpretation, management, and presentation, experience leading and developing teams, and strong communication skills. Knowledge of environmental policies and legislation and the ability to ensure they are followed is also required.

Benefits: Joining our team means you'll be a big part of tackling environmental and climate issues. We offer enhanced employer pension, life assurance, flexible & hybrid working options, generous annual leave, buy and sell annual leave, enhanced parental pay, and an employee assistance programme.

Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion: To achieve our vision, we need to better reflect society and the communities we work in. We particularly encourage applications from people of colour and disabled people, who are currently under-represented across the environment and conservation sector.
