As a Senior Outdoor Instructor, you’ll continue doing what you do best – delivering outstanding adventure experiences. Alongside leading high-quality sessions across our range of land and water activities, you’ll play a key role in developing our people, improving our programmes and maintaining the high operational standards TYF is known for. This is a hands-on leadership role for experienced instructors who are ready to take the next step in their career. As well as delivering engaging sessions, you’ll take ownership of key operational areas such as staff training and development, equipment and stores, activity development and operational standards. You’ll be encouraged to use your experience, share ideas and help shape the continual improvement of how we work. Supporting and developing others is central to the role. You’ll mentor instructors, help induct new team members, share knowledge and provide day-to-day guidance, creating a positive environment where people are encouraged to learn, grow and deliver their best. Working closely with the Head of Centre and Operations Manager, you’ll help coordinate the day-to-day operation of the centre and deputise when required. As a trusted member of the leadership team, you’ll help ensure the centre runs smoothly, safely and consistently delivers the high-quality experiences our customers expect. This role offers the opportunity to influence how the centre operates, contribute to the development of both people and programmes, and help build a culture of professionalism, collaboration and continuous improvement while remaining actively involved in delivering adventures every day.

Qualifications & Experience Essential Qualifications 16-hour Outdoor First Aid qualification. Full UK Driving Licence. Three or more of the the following: Sea Kayak Leader or PSTL and a Paddle UK coaching award. RCI or higher. NCC Guide Award. Coastal SUP award or Tidal SUP award. Mountain Leader (summer) or higher. Essential Experience & Skills Significant experience delivering high-quality outdoor sessions to a wide range of groups. Excellent group management, communication and facilitation skills. The ability to lead by example and maintain consistently high instructional standards. Excellent judgement, decision-making and problem-solving skills. Experience supporting the day-to-day operation of an outdoor centre or activity provider. A proactive approach with the confidence to take ownership of projects and operational responsibilities. The ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound operational decisions. A commitment to continually improving both yourself and those around you. Desirable Experience delivering or assisting with instructor training or internal staff development. Experience or an understanding of managing equipment, stores or operational systems. D1 (Minibus) and/or B+E (Trailer) entitlement. Beach Lifeguard or Surf Lifesaver qualification. ASI or ISA L1 Surf Instructor. Level 3 Safeguarding qualification.
