Multi-Skilled Tradesperson

Location: Unawatuna, south Sri Lanka

Duration: 2 to 3 Months (Short-term contract)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

​The Escape

​Swap the grey, damp UK autumn and winter for the tropical south coast of Sri Lanka. We are looking for a highly experienced, multi skilled tradesperson to join us for 2 to 3 months to help elevate and expand our spaces.

​If you are a builder or tradesperson who loves fitness, surfing, and the idea of living in a tropical paradise while doing what you do best, this is your chance to step out of the daily grind and into an adventure.

​About Us & The Location

​Makahiya Fitness & Wellbeing is a premium boutique resort located in Unawatuna, Sri Lanka. We combine high end hospitality, functional fitness, and recovery.

Unawatuna is situated on Sri Lanka’s famous south coast a vibrant, sun drenched stretch of the island known for world class surf breaks, palm fringed beaches, and a laid back, adventurous lifestyle. Outside of your working hours, you’ll have evenings and weekends completely free to surf, train, explore the jungles, or simply relax by the Indian Ocean.

​The Role

​You will be working directly with the founder on multiple small construction, refurbishment, and maintenance projects around the resort. Our aesthetic is rooted in high standards and quiet luxury, so the finish needs to be immaculate.

​Key Projects Include:

• ​Refurbishing and upgrading current guest rooms
• ​Decorating and finishing newly constructed rooms
• ​Assisting with both hard and soft landscaping
• ​General site improvements and daily maintenance

​Who We Are Looking For

​You must be a versatile problem solver who can turn their hand to most trades to some degree, with a minimum of 10 years of experience.

​Ideal Technical Skills:

• ​Tiling
• ​Painting and decorating
• ​Plastering and filling
• ​Basic carpentry and prep work
• ​A basic understanding of plumbing and electrics

​The Non-Negotiables:

We have an incredibly high standard for our resort. You must take genuine pride in your work, possess a meticulous attention to detail, and have an exceptional work ethic. You need to be a self-starter who takes initiative, solves problems creatively, and respects timekeeping.
