Investment Manager

Big Issue Invest is looking for an Investment Manager to support the Growth Impact Fund, backing diverse-led, purpose-driven organisations tackling inequality. This is a hands-on role for someone who can lead investments with confidence, build strong founder relationships and help ambitious social businesses grow their impact.

What you will do

• Source and shape high-quality investment opportunities aligned with the Fund’s mission.
• Lead proportionate due diligence, financial modelling and risk assessment.
• Prepare clear, compelling investment recommendations for decision-making.
• Manage transactions through approval, completion and post-investment handover.
• Work closely with portfolio organisations to track performance, manage risk and strengthen impact.
• Represent the Fund with founders, partners, co-investors and sector networks.
• Support the wider investment team and the further investment funds/vehicles.

Essential skills and experience

• Strong investment experience, including origination, due diligence, investment papers, transaction execution and portfolio management.
• Confident financial and commercial analysis skills, with the ability to test assumptions and explain risk clearly.
• Experience in social investment, impact investing, responsible lending, venture capital, private equity, corporate finance or a related field.
• Ability and willingness to use AI to support and enhance the quality and efficiency of your work and support decision-making, applying it responsibly and developing your skills as tools evolve.
• Sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to lead recommendations through challenge.
• A warm, credible and founder-centred approach, with commitment to widening access to finance.
• Experience of quasi-equity, blended finance or supporting underrepresented founders would be a bonus.
• A collaborative and inclusive approach, with the ability and willingness to work across teams, share expertise and contribute capacity where it is most needed, alongside a commitment to supporting underrepresented founders.

Salary and Benefits offered

• Salary – £50,000 to £55,000 per annum
• Incremental holiday entitlement starting at 28 days per year plus bank holidays (pro-rata for part time staff) plus paid leave to care for a sick child or grandchild and a sick or elderly relation

Workplace details

This role is based remotely but will require occasional travel to our Head Office in London
