Role Summary
- Provide strategic support to the Global Research & Innovation Strategy.
- Co-lead the development of peer-reviewed academic papers.
- Participate in project acquisition and proposal writing.
- Lead on delivering technical research and innovation results.
- Coordinate the Kaohsiung–ICLEI Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Community of Practice project.
Role Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience in climate finance, urban transition, digital transformation, or related fields.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in project coordination/management and/or proposal writing.
- A university degree in related studies and PhD is preferred.
- Proficiency in English and digital collaboration tools.

The Role: You will join the ICLEI World Secretariat team based in Bonn, Germany, as a Senior Research Officer within the Urban Research, Innovation, and Development Team. Your tasks will include strategic support for the Global Research & Innovation Strategy, co-leading the development of peer-reviewed academic papers, and contributing to project acquisition and proposal writing. You will also lead on delivering technical research and innovation results and support the coordination of the Kaohsiung–ICLEI Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Community of Practice project.
Job Requirements: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in climate finance, urban transition, digital transformation, or related fields, including at least 2 years in project coordination/management and/or proposal writing. Benefits: This position offers a starting annual salary of 49,360.92 EUR, a contract limited to 1 year with the possibility of extension, 40 working hours per week, and 30 days of paid leave per year. The working language is English, and the role is based on German law. International travel may be required.
