THIS IS US Dott is the European champion of shared micromobility. Created through the merger of operators TIER and Dott in March 2024, the company decided to move forward under the single app and brand Dott. With the mission of moving us closer, Dott facilitates easy urban travel, reduces pollution in cities, and decreases reliance on cars. Today, Dott deploys 200,000 shared vehicles in 400 cities and 20 countries across Europe and the Middle East. The 12 million users have generated over 500 million rides so far. The team is led by CEO Maxim Romain and Executive Chairman Henri Moissinac. For more information, visit www.ridedott.com. THE ROLE AND YOUR IMPACT AT DOTT Full-time, permament and hybrid (3 days/week in the office). About the team: User Growth owns the moment a download becomes a rider. We turn installs — driven by Marketing, Brand, and Partnerships — into Riders who create an account, take their first Dott ride, and come back for a second. We work cross-functionally by default, chase optimization for every step of the growth journey, run new experiments in days rather than months, and drive userbase growth. The role: You'll be the technical lead for User Growth: hands-on across the stack, backend-heavy, leading a small team of engineers, and the single point of technical accountability for the health of the onboarding-to-second-ride funnel. You'll own the backend of the "Ready to Ride" experience and build the experimentation and attribution capability that lets the whole team build and iterate fast. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with a Product Manager and with Marketing, CRM, Commercial, and Payments. This is a player-coach role. You'll write and review code, set the technical direction for a small team, and get things done across teams you don't manage but influence. What you'll do: Own the Ready-to-Ride backend — the services, state machines, and integrations behind account creation (OTP, email verification), ID verification, referrals and codes, city-policy acceptance. Build the growth toolkit — experimentation/feature-flagging, install and deep-link attribution, and end-to-end funnel instrumentation (install → account → first ride → second ride). Orchestrate the mobile surface — translate funnel priorities into client work with our mobile engineers, own the contract between backend and client, and stay accountable for funnel health even where the code isn't yours. Partner cross-functionally — turn growth hypotheses from Product, Marketing, CRM, and Commercial into shippable experiments, and make sure installs from various channels convert cleanly downstream. Set the bar for a small, fast team — pragmatic architecture, tight iteration loops, and a discipline of instrumenting before optimizing, with bias towards action. What you own (and what you don't): You're accountable for: install → account conversion, account → first ride, first → second ride, funnel drop-off and latency, and experiment throughput and instrumentation quality. YOU’LL FIT GREAT WITH THESE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Must-have: Strong backend engineering in TypeScript / Node.js. Fluency with gRPC / ConnectRPC and Protobuf for service-to-service communication (or a track record of picking up a new RPC paradigm fast). Comfortable shipping services on GCP — Kubernetes/GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, and Pub/Sub-style event-driven architectures. Experience across both relational (PostgreSQL) and document (Firestore-style NoSQL) data models, with the judgment to know which fits which problem. A habit of treating instrumentation and funnel analytics as part of "done" — event design feeding a data warehouse (BigQuery or similar). Strongly preferred: Experience owning a consumer conversion funnel end-to-end, with the data to prove your work moved the metric. This is the differentiator — we'll weight it heavily. Mobile fluency to review, not necessarily to build — enough Swift/SwiftUI or Kotlin/Compose to own the client-backend contract and review mobile funnel work credibly. Hands-on with attribution / mobile measurement partners (Adjust, AppsFlyer, Branch, or similar) and deep-linking. Experience integrating third-party identity, OTP, and messaging vendors (webhooks, SDKs, callback flows). Not required: payments-orchestration/PSP depth, data science / ML, or IoT/vehicle telemetry. Don't be put off if these aren't your background.
