What will you be doing?

We are looking for a volunteer to support our due diligence process with eight education NGOs. You will join us as soon as possible in October to help review financial materials and prepare analysis for our committee. This is an important piece of work to ensure the long-term financial resilience of our grantee partners, and a chance to apply your professional skills to maximise social impact in global education.

Whether you’re exploring a move into the social sector or offering a few volunteer hours, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals while contributing to lasting change.

You’ll collaborate directly with Greater Share’s Executive Director, a recognised social impact leader with 20+ years’ experience across nonprofit and business sectors. You’ll also work with the Greater Share's CFO, a seasoned expert in Private Equity finance.

What You’ll Do

  • Review audited accounts and management accounts provided by NGOs.
  • Assess financial health across select indicators such as reserves, deficits, income fluctuations, reliance on single funders (over a 3-year horizon), and overall liquidity.
  • Support the preparation of clarification questions for NGOs where information is incomplete or unclear.
  • Track receipt of NGO responses and follow up where needed.
  • Assist in preparing short “traffic light” assessments for each NGO, highlighting strengths, risks, and areas requiring further monitoring.
  • Contribute to a consolidated comparison table of all NGOs, showing key ratios and any red flags.
  • Help draft the financial section of the committee briefing pack

What We Offer

  • Impact: Support leading NGOs and social enterprises to deliver measurable improvements in education worldwide.
  • Professional Exposure: Gain experience of a new finance role.
  • Events Access: Attend mission-focused events showcasing the impact of our partners’ work in underserved communities (subject to availability).
  • Flexible Remote Work: Work on your own schedule, from anywhere.
  • Professional Recognition: Receive a LinkedIn endorsement and letter of recommendation.
  • Work Space (optional): Occasional access to the Conduit, a 5-floor club in London with spaces to work, meet, eat and socialise.

What are we looking for?

We Would Love to Hear from You If…

Essential

  • You have at least 3 years of experience of financial management, analysis or accounting.
  • You’re a self-starter, comfortable managing and executing with minimal guidance.
  • You have native or near-native English fluency.
  • You’re organized, detail-oriented.

Desirable:

  • You’ve analysed UK charity accounts.

What difference will you make?

You’ll help best-in-class NGOs and social enterprises drive measurable improvements in education outcomes, world-wide.

This is an opportunity to make a tangible contribution to the effective governance of our grant-making and help ensure our partner NGOs are financially resilient. Greater Share is a pioneering philanthropic investment platform that connects the world’s top-performing private equity funds with high-impact non-governmental organisations (NGOs). We invest in best-in-class private equity funds screened for ESG criteria, with a pledge to share at least 50 percent of the gains with high-impact education NGOs.
