What will you be doing?
The board, led by Jatinder Verma MBE, is strong in arts and cultural work, as well as in diversity and charity management. As a small arts organisation outside the Arts Council's National Portfolio, we are very aware of the need for careful strategic planning and sound management in order to be sustainable and to grow in the current climate. We have generated a Strategic Plan and a Manifesto to take us forward, and this involves important strategies for growth, international partnerships, local initiatives, and fundraising. With a view to developing and implementing the plan, we aim to recruit trustees with skills in the key areas identified.
For the last decade, we have had a trustee with skills in marketing, particularly digital marketing. She has been invaluable to the company's digital development and audience growth. Our next Marketing Trustee will help us to build on these successes, helping to develop a public narrative that draws people into a profound engagement with our intercultural performance projects.
What are we looking for?
First and foremost, you will share a passion for our vision, values and the art forms we engage with. You will also have experience, expertise and energy to bring to the table in two or more of the following areas:
• Marketing for Arts and Culture
• PR
The board meets 4-6 times a year and it is expected that board members do not miss more than two meetings each year. This is a voluntary unpaid position.
What difference will you make?
The board of trustees will be crucial to the organisation's development over the next five years, allowing us
- to present a series of projects in collaboration with artists from a range of cultural backgrounds, including across Europe, from Ukraine and Western Asia
- to work directly with refugee communities in the UK
- to engage with cultural policy at national and European levels
- to build on the success of our ORIGINS Festival of First Nations, allowing London audiences to engage with some of the most important and provocative arts and ideas in the world today
- to engage London schools and colleges directly in our artistic programme
- to develop exciting new initiatives around spaces for intercultural performance
- to become involved in international training exchanges and initiatives
Anything else...
The board meets 4-6 times a year, with some additional meetings of smaller groups for specific purposes. Most meetings are 6.30-8.30pm
