What will you be doing?

Clothing Collective is looking for an experienced media and PR professional to support the delivery of an ambitious new national awareness and fundraising campaign.

This is a flexible, short-term volunteer opportunity over approximately two to three months, leading up to a major campaign moment in November. We're looking for someone with strong media instincts and established press contacts who can help us shape the story and secure impactful media coverage at both a regional and national level.

You'll work closely with our team to develop and deliver the PR activity for an exciting new campaign designed to raise awareness of clothing poverty and inspire people to take action.

Your role will include:

  • Helping shape the campaign story and identifying compelling media angles.
  • Developing a PR plan to support the campaign launch.
  • Advising on opportunities to generate national and regional media coverage.
  • Using your existing journalist and media contacts to help secure coverage.
  • Supporting the preparation of press materials and media outreach.
  • Providing strategic PR advice to help maximise the campaign's reach and impact.
  • Media co-ordination and attendance at the event in Manchester (if possible).

We're looking for someone who enjoys turning powerful ideas into stories that people notice, talk about and share.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for someone with experience in public relations and media relations is excited by the opportunity to use their skills for social good.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Experience of delivering successful PR campaigns.
  • Strong, current relationships with journalists, particularly within national media.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to identify newsworthy stories and media opportunities.
  • A strategic mindset alongside a practical, hands-on approach.
  • Confidence working independently while collaborating with a small team.
  • A passion for using communications to create positive social change.

What difference will you make?

Clothing poverty affects an estimated 5.5 million people across the UK, yet it remains one of the country's least recognised forms of poverty.

By volunteering your expertise, you'll help bring this issue into the public conversation, increasing awareness, inspiring support and helping raise vital funds so we can reach more people who need us.

You'll play a key role in shaping Clothing Collective's first national awareness and fundraising campaign, working alongside a small, ambitious and passionate team at an exciting point in the charity's growth. Your expertise will help raise the profile of both the campaign and the charity, supporting our long-term ambition to ensure everyone has access to the clothing they need.

This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference while contributing to something innovative, meaningful and, we hope, unforgettable.
