Kainé relies on strong, mission-aligned fundraising to continue delivering arts, education, and cultural awareness programmes that improve community cohesion in Leicester. We are looking for a Fundraising Trustee who can help us secure sustainable funding, strengthen funder relationships and keep our long-term ambitions financially grounded. This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role for someone who understands the power of compelling storytelling, strong community evidence and meticulous grant planning.

  • Lead all major bid development and submissions to local and national funders.
  • Maintain a comprehensive bid tracker reflecting the full pipeline and progress stages.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with major funders and grant-giving bodies.
  • Liaise with the Programmes Trustee to ensure bids accurately reflect community need and programme design.
  • Delegate smaller bids while retaining final oversight and editorial control.
  • Ensure all deadlines are met, lessons are documented and funder feedback is actively sought.
  • Attend Finance Committee and Board meetings, fulfilling Trustee responsibilities.

What are we looking for?

Essential

  • Proven experience writing successful bids or managing fundraising initiatives.
  • Ability to translate community needs and programme outcomes into powerful narratives.
  • Strong organisational skills with an ability to manage multiple deadlines and opportunities.
  • High-level written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to transparency and maintaining clear financial reporting links with the Finance Committee.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Leicester’s funding landscape.
  • Experience within arts, education or community-based initiatives.

What difference will you make?

  • The opportunity to shape the financial future of a charity serving thousands of Leicester residents.
  • Hands-on experience influencing strategy, governance and organisational sustainability.
  • A chance to grow your fundraising leadership profile with meaningful, community-centred work.
  • A values-driven team that celebrates collaboration, empowerment and learning.
