What will you be doing?

What will you be doing

• Become familiar with the Basildon Mind buildings and facilities and their Health, Safety and Fire requirements
• Assisting the Basildon Mind staff and volunteers in ensuring healthy and safe practices at all times
  • Carry out twice-yearly Health and Safety audits and Fire drills
  • Own, review and update Health, Safety and Fire Risk Assessments
  • Be aware of current and new Health, Safety and Fire Risk legislation and best practices and update Basildon Mind’s Policies, Procedures and practices accordingly

What are we looking for?

What are we looking for

To be successful you should be an experienced Health and Safety / Fire practitioner.

You should be familiar with applying legislation and best practice to practical situations.

You should have experience of conducting Health, Safety and Fire audits and drills and ensuring and actions identified are completed.

You must have good communication and interpersonal skills and able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including Volunteers, Staff, Managers, Trustees and other stakeholders.

You should have a strong team working ethos.

Our small charity needs to self-fund many of its services (Counselling, Helpline, Wellbeing activities). This model enables us to help as many local people as possible with their mental health. As a volunteer who spends quality time focusing on Health, Safety and Fire you will help ensure we continue to help as many local people as possible in a safe manner.

1 per week (on average, variable). This is a long-term position which can start as soon as possible.
