What will you be doing?
As an Event Volunteer or Event Leader, you will play a vital role in helping Mr Motivator's Bed Bank deliver engaging community and school events that raise awareness of bed poverty and inspire action.
Working alongside our staff, volunteers and partners, you will help ensure events run smoothly from start to finish. Depending on your experience and interests, responsibilities may include welcoming attendees, supporting registration, assisting with activities, directing visitors, coordinating event logistics, and helping to create a positive and engaging atmosphere throughout the day.
For volunteers interested in taking on additional responsibility, there will be opportunities to lead groups of volunteers, oversee specific areas of an event, act as a point of contact on the day and support event planning and delivery.
Our flagship event, Dream Big Day, brings together schools, communities and partners to learn about sleep, wellbeing and bed poverty while taking part in fun and inspiring activities. Following the success of our first event in Wigan, we have ambitions to develop similar events locally and nationally as the charity grows.
We are looking for people who have had experience volunteering at events, enjoy working with others, can remain organised in a busy environment and are passionate about supporting community events that make a real difference.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in event management, volunteer coordination and community engagement while supporting a growing charity committed to ensuring every child has a safe place to sleep.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and proactive volunteers who enjoy working with people and contributing to successful community events.
Previous experience volunteering at events, coordinating activities, supporting community programmes or leading teams. Key qualities include:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A friendly, welcoming and approachable manner.
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to remain calm in a busy environment.
- Confidence working as part of a team.
- Reliability and a willingness to take responsibility.
- The ability to engage positively with children, schools and community partners.
- Flexibility and adaptability during live events.
- An interest in events, volunteering, community engagement or project management.
- A commitment to supporting our mission to tackle bed poverty.
For those interested in Event Leader responsibilities, experience coordinating volunteers, managing activities or overseeing projects would be particularly valuable.
Most importantly, we are looking for people who are passionate about making a difference and helping us create inspiring events that support children and families experiencing bed poverty.
What difference will you make?
Community events are one of the most effective ways for us to raise awareness of bed poverty, engage schools and communities, and build support for the work of Mr Motivator's Bed Bank.
By supporting the planning and delivery of our events, you will help us create positive experiences for children, families, schools, funders and partners. Your contribution will enable events to run safely, professionally and efficiently, ensuring everyone involved has a memorable and enjoyable experience.
As the charity continues to grow, we are developing plans to expand our event programme both within Wigan and across the UK. Having dedicated event volunteers and leaders will strengthen our capacity, improve event delivery and help us reach more children and families affected by bed poverty.
Ultimately, your support will help us raise awareness, strengthen community relationships, encourage fundraising and expand the impact of our work.
